Senior Screener – Operations (ILHBS)

Responsibilities

Shift Operations Management:

Oversee and manage all activities related to baggage handling operations during assigned shifts, ensuring all processes comply with safety, security, and operational SOPs.

Supervise staff to ensure smooth baggage flow, minimize delays, and maintain system performance at all times.

Conduct regular team briefings and ensure smooth handover of shifts to maintain operational continuity.

Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:

Ensure 100% compliance with BCAS security mandates related to hold baggage screening.

Liaise with relevant authorities to address any operational or compliance-related issues effectively.

Monitor screeners’ performance, including timeouts, TIP (Threat Image Projection), major detections and Maintain records for TIP performance and prepare daily reports.

Security Compliance:

Liaise with airlines, local police, and other government agencies in case of detection of weapons, arms, ammunition, or prohibited as per the regulations any security incidents.

Ensure that staff members adhere to security protocols and promptly report any detected security breaches, adhering to the necessary procedures.

Well versed with weapon handling procedure and action incase of detection of unauthorized or undeclared arms & ammunition

Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

Monitor screeners' performance and TIP records, providing feedback to improve individual and team performance.

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly shift reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness of MIS (Management Information System) reports.

Maintain records of equipment breakdowns, security-related incidents, and action taken.

Prepare incident reports for any security lapses or system failures, including issues with inline baggage screening or equipment.

Incident Management:

Ensure effective management of incidents, including reporting, tracking, and resolving security-related breaches, equipment failures, or any disruptions in baggage handling operations.

Ensure swift action is taken for equipment failures or security alerts, minimizing impact on operations.

Equipment Maintenance & Serviceability:

Ensure that the maintenance of baggage handling equipment is regularly monitored and logged. Report downtime and monitor serviceability to ensure minimal disruption to operations.

Maintain and track the register of equipment downtime and take necessary corrective actions with the technical teams

Stakeholder Coordination:

Collaborate with internal departments such as passenger terminal operations and aircraft operators to ensure seamless baggage screening operations.

Act as a point of contact for regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders for matters concerning ILHBS.

Staff Supervision and Scheduling:

Prepare daily staff allocation, rotation, and break schedules, ensuring effective implementation for smooth operation.

Supervise screeners and assist in image interpretation, providing guidance and support to ensure correct baggage screening procedures are followed.

Ensure staff discipline, proper implementation of SOPs, and maintain accurate leave and attendance reports.

Ensure that all team members read, understand, and sign BCAS Orders, Circulars, Alert messages, and other communication from BCAS and relevant authorities. Secure records for scrutiny.

Qualifications

Educational Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or equivalent degree

Certifications: Required AVSEC Basic Course by BCAS, DGR CAT 12 certification by DGCA Approved training center and Standalone / Inline Screeners certification by BCAS

Desirable to have AVSEC Supervisor course or

Avsec Management Course, NCC – “C” or “B” Certificate Holder, trained in Fire Fighting or other security & Safety related activity.

Work Experience:

7-10 years of experience in airport security or a related field, with 2+ years in a supervisory role.

Physical Qualification:

Visual accuracy - Eyesight shall be equal or better than 20/60 in both eyes without glasses

lenses or equal or better that 20 / 20 in one eye and 20 / 30 in the other when using glasses

or contact lenses. Adequate color perception shall be required.

Hearing – Hearing loss in each ear should be less than 30 dB when tested by audio graph for frequencies below 2000 Hz.

Speech – There shall be clear ability to communicate orally efficiently and effectively.

Movement-of-crisis communication necessitates that screening personnel be free from any

pronounced speed impediment.

Sense of smell – Security personnel shall have the ability to sense Oduor

Deportment & Appearance - Security personnel must demonstrate a high standard of civility,

deportment, appearance and sobriety as well as offer the public all appropriate courtesies.
