Design Engineer

An MEP design engineer is responsible for designing, coordinating, and overseeing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in construction projects to ensure they are efficient, code-compliant, and integrated with the overall building design. This involves creating detailed drawings, performing energy efficiency calculations, selecting equipment, and collaborating with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure successful project completion from design through installation. 

Key responsibilities

• System design: Develop and design mechanical (HVAC), electrical, and plumbing systems for various buildings and facilities.
• Coordination: Work with architects, structural engineers, and other project stakeholders to ensure MEP systems integrate seamlessly with the overall design.
• Technical calculations: Perform load calculations and energy efficiency analyses to determine system requirements and equipment selection.
• Drawing and documentation: Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates suitable for bidding and construction.
• Code compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, safety standards, and regulations.
• Site oversight: Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor installation, resolve issues, and perform quality control checks.
• Project support: Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including reviewing submittals and addressing technical challenges.
• Equipment selection: Select appropriate mechanical and electrical equipment based on design calculations and project needs.
