Gold Appraiser

Gold Appraiser (also known as a Jewel Appraiser or Valuer) is a technical specialist responsible for assessing the authenticity, purity, and market value of gold ornaments and jewelry. This role is vital in the banking and financial sectors to determine the maximum loan amount sanctioned for gold-backed credit. 

Core Responsibilities:

• Valuation & Purity Testing: Conducting thorough physical and chemical inspections to determine the karat level (purity) and net weight of gold while excluding stones or other metals.
• Fraud Detection: Identifying fake, tampered, or adulterated gold items to safeguard the lender from potential defaults.
• Market Analysis: Tracking daily fluctuating gold rates to provide accurate valuations based on current market trends.
• Documentation: Generating formal appraisal reports and certificates required for loan sanctioning and internal audits.
• Customer Support: Explaining gold loan schemes, interest rates, and valuation processes to walk-in customers.
• Operations & Sales: Managing relationships with existing customers and occasionally participating in field-marketing activities to generate new leads. 

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Education: A minimum of 10th or 12th-grade completion is standard for junior roles.
• Certification: Specialized gold appraisal certification from a recognized government body (such as MSME-CFTI in India) is often mandatory.
• Technical Expertise: Proficiency with appraisal tools like touchstones, nitric acid for testing, precision scales, and spectrometers.
• Soft Skills: High integrity, attention to detail, and effective communication for handling customer queries.
• Experience: Entry-level roles may accept freshers with certification, but senior roles often require 2–5 years of experience in NBFCs or banks
