Job Description for Desktop Support Engineer – IT Infrastructure
Position: Desktop Support Engineer Department: IT
Experience: 2–5 Years
Location: Manesar, Gurgaon
Job Summary
The Desktop Support Engineer will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting the complete IT infrastructure, including desktop networks, CCTV surveillance systems, intercoms, Wi-Fi networks, video conferencing systems, and servers. The role requires hands-on technical expertise to ensure uninterrupted IT operations, quick issue resolution, and proactive system maintenance.
Key Roles & Responsibilities Desktop & Network Support
Installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals
Managing LAN/WAN networks, switches, routers, and structured cabling
User account management, access control, and basic network security
CCTV Surveillance Systems
Installation, configuration, and maintenance of CCTV cameras, NVRs, and storage devices
Monitoring camera health, uptime, and video quality
Troubleshooting network and hardware-related CCTV issues
Intercom & Access Control
Configuration and support of intercom systems and IP phones
Coordinating with vendors for repairs and replacements
Ensuring smooth communication across sites
Wi-Fi & Internet Infrastructure
Deployment and management of Wi-Fi access points and controllers
Optimizing coverage, bandwidth, and security
Troubleshooting connectivity and performance issues
Video Conferencing Systems
Setup and maintenance of video conferencing equipment (VC cameras, mics, speakers, displays)
Supporting live meetings, boardroom setups, and hybrid conferencing
Resolving audio, video, and network-related issues
Server & IT Infrastructure
Basic server management (Windows/Linux), monitoring system health and uptime
Backup monitoring, storage management, and basic recovery support
Coordination with backend teams for advanced server issues
Preventive Maintenance & Documentation
Conducting regular preventive maintenance checks
Maintaining inventory of IT assets and spares
Preparing site visit reports, issue logs, and resolution documentation
Coordination & Support
Coordinating with backend support teams and vendors for unresolved issues
Ensuring timely closure of tickets and adherence to SLAs
Providing user training and basic IT awareness when required
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of desktop hardware, networking, and IT infrastructure
Hands-on experience with CCTV, Wi-Fi, intercom, and video conferencing systems
Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Basic knowledge of servers, backups, and security practices
Ability to work independently at client sites
Preferred Qualifications
Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
Relevant certifications (CCNA, MCSE, CCTV, Network Security – preferred)
