Job Description.

An architectural drafter creates detailed technical drawings and plans for construction projects based on the specifications of architects and engineers. Key responsibilities include using CAD software to produce blueprints, ensuring all drawings comply with building codes and standards, collaborating with the design team, and visiting construction sites to verify measurements and progress. 

Key responsibilities

• Create technical drawings: Use CAD software like AutoCAD and Revit to produce precise and detailed drawings, blueprints, and 3D models for residential, commercial, or industrial buildings.
• Ensure compliance: Incorporate and verify that all drawings adhere to building codes, local regulations, and project-specific requirements.
• Collaborate with teams: Work closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and contractors to incorporate their feedback and ensure the drawings accurately reflect the design intent.
• Site visits: Conduct site visits to gather information, take measurements, and confirm that construction is proceeding according to the plans.
• Update and revise: Revise and update drawings based on feedback or changes during the project lifecycle.
• Maintain documentation: Organize and manage project files, documentation, and drawing archives.
• Develop other plans: May develop structural, electrical, or other supporting designs that are incorporated into the main architectural drawings. 

Essential skills

• Technical Proficiency: Expertise in using CAD software (such as AutoCAD and Revit) and other drafting tools.
• Attention to Detail: The ability to produce highly accurate and precise drawings is critical.
• Knowledge of Building Codes: A strong understanding of building codes, industry standards, and construction techniques is required.
