Job Summary:
The Desktop Engineer is responsible for providing technical support for desktop systems, software, and hardware. This role involves installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting desktops, laptops, printers, and other IT assets, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations for end users.
Key Responsibilities:· Install, configure, and maintain desktop/laptop systems, operating systems, and applications.
· Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues on user devices.
· Provide first-level and second-level support to internal users (in person, via phone, or remote tools).
· Set up and maintain user accounts, permissions, and passwords (Active Directory).
· Support printers, scanners, VoIP phones, and other peripheral devices.
· Manage software installations, updates, and patches.
· Assist with system upgrades, migrations, and IT asset management.
· Document issues, resolutions, and configurations in ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
· Ensure security and antivirus measures are up to date on all endpoints.
· Support video conferencing and meeting room AV setups.
· Coordinate with vendors for hardware repairs and replacements.
· Provide support during system rollouts or office relocations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
· 1–3 years of experience in desktop or IT support roles.
· · Knowledge of remote support tools (TeamViewer, AnyDesk, etc.).
· · Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· · Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional):· Experience with macOS and Linux desktop environments.
· IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft MTA/MCSA, ITIL).
