About Us
SMC (Shree Mahalaxmi Chemicals) is an established chemical trading company based out of Mumbai, India. Our vision is to be a system-led, innovative chemical partner, creating long-term customer value through integrity and trust. We are currently expanding our operations from our new office and are looking for a dedicated professional to take full ownership of our export sales and documentation processes.
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Export Sales & Documentation Manager to handle our international trade sales & operations from end to end. The ideal candidate will seamlessly manage overseas buyer communications, execute complex Letter of Credit (LC) documentation, coordinate with banks for trade finance, and ensure smooth logistics and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Export Documentation: Independently prepare and process all pre-shipment and post-shipment documents, including Proforma Invoices, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, and Shipping Bills.
- Letter of Credit (LC) Management: Rigorously scrutinize LC drafts to ensure terms are workable and protect the company’s interests. Ensure 100% discrepancy-free document submission to negotiating banks.
- Bank Coordination: Liaise directly with banks for export bill discounting, document tracking, payment realization, and obtaining e-BRCs and e-FIRAs.
- Logistics & Freight: Coordinate with Custom House Agents (CHAs), freight forwarders, and shipping lines for vessel booking, container tracking, and timely issuance of Bills of Lading (BL).
- Export Sales : Generate leads / develop relationships with international clients & generate business. Communicate effectively with international buyers regarding shipment statuses, document dispatch, and payment schedules.
- Compliance & Incentives: Ensure strict adherence to DGFT, Customs, and FEMA regulations. Manage and claim all applicable export incentives (e.g., RoDTEP, Duty Drawback).
- System Management: Accurately log and maintain all export and client data within the company's ERP system (Odoo) to support our system-led approach.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 2 to 5 years of proven experience in export sales, documentation and bank coordination (experience in the chemical trading/manufacturing sector is a strong advantage).
- Deep, practical knowledge of LC operations, UCPDC 600, and current Incoterms.
- Strong understanding of Indian export regulations, customs procedures, and export incentives.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail—accuracy in documentation is non-negotiable.
- Tech-savvy with hands-on experience using ERP systems (Odoo experience is a plus) and MS Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for dealing with international clients and banking officials.
