Field Service Engineer – Maritime Satcom

Role summary

Hands-on field engineer responsible for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of maritime satellite communication and navigation systems on vessels and shore locations.

Key responsibilities

Install, commission and maintain VSAT, FleetBroadband, Fleet Xpress, Starlink, OneWeb and Iridium satellite systems

Work on gyro-stabilized antennas and terminals including Intellian, Cobham and KVH

Configure LAN/WAN networks, routing, VLANs, VPNs and hardware firewalls onboard vessels

Perform fault diagnosis, repairs, firmware upgrades and hardware replacements

Provide remote and onsite technical support to vessels and coordinate with OEMs and NOCs

Read and work from technical manuals, wiring diagrams and network layouts

Prepare service reports, installation checklists and system documentation

Travel to ports and board vessels as required, including short-notice assignments

Mandatory requirements

3+ years experience in satellite communication or telecom field service

Strong hands-on experience with maritime satcom terminals and antennas

Good understanding of IP networking, firewalls and troubleshooting

Comfortable with Linux / CLI based diagnostics and remote support tools

Good spoken and written English

Willing to travel and work onboard vessels

Preferred qualifications

BE/BTech in Electronics, Electronics and Communication or Telecommunication

OEM certifications (Intellian, Cobham, KVH, Starlink, OneWeb, Iridium)

Cisco CCNA or equivalent networking certification

This is a field-based role involving vessel visits and port travel. Candidates without hands-on satcom experience or willingness to travel should not apply.
