Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer – Fire Fighting is responsible for Supply, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning (SITC) of fire fighting systems, ensuring compliance with applicable fire safety codes, standards, and local fire authority requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute SITC of fire fighting systems including hydrant systems, sprinkler systems, fire pump rooms, and associated piping networks.
• Supervise installation of fire pumps, jockey pumps, diesel/electric pumps, valves, hydrants, sprinklers, and accessories.
• Ensure installation is as per NBC, IS standards, local fire department norms, and approved drawings.
• Coordinate testing and commissioning activities such as hydrostatic testing, flow tests, pressure tests, pump performance tests, and alarm system integration.
• Prepare and review shop drawings, as-built drawings, BOQs, and material submittals.
• Coordinate with consultants, architects, electrical teams, and civil contractors.
• Liaise with Fire Department / Fire Authority for inspection, compliance, and certification.
• Monitor project timelines, quality, safety, and manpower at site.
• Identify site issues and provide technical solutions to ensure smooth execution.
• Maintain site documentation, test reports, inspection checklists, and handover documents.
• Ensure adherence to safety practices and statutory requirements during execution.
• Support AMC, NCAMC, and system handover after project completion.

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of fire fighting systems and components.
• Familiarity with NBC 2005/2016, IS codes, and local fire norms.
• Ability to read and interpret fire fighting drawings and layouts.
• Good coordination, communication, and reporting skills.
• Hands-on experience in site execution and commissioning.

Educational Qualifications:

• Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience:

• 6-10 years of relevant experience in Fire Fighting SITC projects (Residential, Commercial, Industrial).
