SMC(Shree Mahalaxmi Chemicals ) is an established, premier chemical trading company operating since 1989 based out of Mumbai, India. As we expand operations from our new Mumbai office, we are looking for a sharp, tech-savvy Purchase Executive to optimize our procurement engine.

Role Summary

The Purchase Executive will be the critical link between SMC and our network of domestic and international chemical suppliers. You will be responsible for sourcing high-quality materials, negotiating the best possible rates by leveraging our strong cash position, ensuring timely inward logistics, and maintaining flawless digital records within our ERP system.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers and manufacturers for bulk industrial chemicals.
• Cost Negotiation: Aggressively negotiate pricing, delivery timelines, and favorable payment terms, utilizing the company's strong liquidity to secure volume discounts and cash purchase advantages.
• Purchase Order (PO) Management: Generate, track, and manage all POs from initial requisition to final delivery, ensuring zero stock-outs and optimal inventory levels.
• System & Data Management: Digitally log all vendor communications, pricing histories, and procurement workflows exclusively within the company’s ERP system (Odoo) to maintain our system-led infrastructure.
• Inward Logistics: Coordinate with transporters, clearing agents, and warehouses to ensure smooth and cost-effective delivery of procured goods to our facilities.
• Quality & Compliance: Work with vendors to ensure all incoming chemicals meet strict quality specifications and are accompanied by necessary compliance documentation (COA, MSDS etc).
• Market Intelligence: Continuously track global and domestic chemical price trends, raw material fluctuations, and supply chain disruptions to advise management on optimal buying windows.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 2 to 5 years of procurement experience, strictly within the Chemical Trading or Chemical Manufacturing industry.
• Deep understanding of bulk chemical pricing dynamics and vendor networks in India and abroad.
• Tech-fluent with mandatory hands-on experience using ERP software (Odoo experience is highly preferred) and a mindset geared toward workflow automation.
• Exceptional negotiation and interpersonal skills; ability to build long-term vendor relationships while fiercely protecting company margins.
• Highly organized, strictly process-driven, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, digitized trading environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Supply Chain, or a related field (a background in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is a strong bonus).
