Omsbuilt Engineering Private Limited is hiring a Safety Officer with 4-6 years of experience for our project in Thane, Maharashtra. The ideal candidate will manage site safety independently (with up to 35 workers), have strong computer skills, and excellent communication abilities.

OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE·       Achieve zero lost time reportable accidents and dangerous occurrences at site/region

·       Developing and implementing safety policies and procedures in line with local laws and regulations

·       Ensuring the highest safety compliance standards and a healthy work environment

·       Monitoring and staying updated on safety regulations, codes and standards

·       Supporting emergency preparedness and response efforts

·       Investigating accidents, incidents and near-miss events

·       Collaborating with cross-functional teams to promote safety initiatives

·       Establishing communication channels with external organizations

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES·       Implement company policies, objectives, programs & procedures

·       Assist project manager and region safety in-charge to implement preventive safety management

·       Audit/review implementation of site safety plan and contractual requirements

·       Ensure adequate safety infrastructure (first aid, training, emergency medical assistance, etc.)

·       Ensure contractors and PMC safety resources are used effectively

·       Ensure & audit legal compliance (BOCW Act, Labour laws & environmental regulations)

·       Prepare & implement monthly activity schedule for inspection, audit, and training

·       Assist project managers to set-up project safety committee

·       Monitor plant & machines - Conduct periodic inventory review and inspection

·       Assess availability of standard quality PPE and ensure effective usage at site

·       Conduct monthly safety audits and submit feedback with improvement plans

·       Prepare/review risk assessments and method statements

·       Develop and maintain strategies to protect employees from workplace hazards

·       Conduct regular inspections to identify potential safety issues

·       Investigate incidents and determine root causes

·       Provide regular safety training sessions and organize safety campaigns

·       Maintain accurate safety records and documentation

·       Monitor effectiveness of safety strategies and adjust as needed

·       Stay updated about emerging safety trends and regulations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS·       Degree or diploma in engineering (preferably civil, mechanical) or Science Graduate

·       ADIS - Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety or equivalent safety certification

·       Minimum 4-6 years experience as safety officer in construction sector/EPC

·       Knowledge of the language spoken by majority of workers in the region

·       Proficiency in safety auditing, inspection and hazard identification

·       Experience in creating emergency response plans

·       Familiarity with OSHA standards and relevant safety regulations

·       Strong computer skills and documentation abilities

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·       Attention to detail and ability to enforce safety procedures

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS·       Professional certifications like NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent

·       Knowledge of emergency response and crisis management

·       Experience in managing safety in diverse work environments

·       Valid driving license and knowledge of first-aid techniques
