Job Summary

The Plumbing & Fire Fighting Storekeeper is responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and maintaining proper records of plumbing and fire fighting materials at the project site or central store. The role ensures material availability, quality control, and proper documentation to support uninterrupted site execution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Material Receipt & Inspection

• Receive plumbing and fire fighting materials (pipes, fittings, valves, pumps, sprinklers, hydrant accessories, etc.)

• Verify materials against Purchase Orders, Delivery Challans, and Invoices

• Check quantity, make, specification, and visible damage

• Coordinate with QA/QC for inspection and approval when required

2. Storage & Inventory Control

• Properly stack and store materials as per manufacturer and safety guidelines

• Maintain separate identification for Plumbing and Fire Fighting materials

• Ensure protection of materials from damage, theft, moisture, and corrosion

• Maintain FIFO (First-In-First-Out) practice

3. Issue of Materials

• Issue materials only against approved Material Requisition Slips (MRS)

• Record daily material issue and balance stock

• Ensure correct quantity and specification are issued to site teams

• Monitor excess issue and wastage

4. Documentation & Records

• Maintain stock registers (manual / Excel)

• Update inward, outward, and balance stock daily

• Prepare monthly stock reports and reconciliation statements

• Maintain records for consumables, tools, and spare materials

5. Coordination & Planning

• Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, and procurement team

• Highlight low-stock items and raise material indents in advance

• Assist in material audits and physical stock verification

• Support timely material availability for project schedules

6. Safety & Housekeeping

• Ensure store area is clean, organized, and safe

• Follow fire safety, lifting, and material handling procedures

• Ensure MSDS and safety instructions are available where applicable

• GI / CPVC / UPVC / HDPE / DI pipes and fittings

• Valves, water meters, pumps

• Sanitary fixtures and accessories

Fire Fighting

• MS / GI pipes and fittings

• Sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, landing valves

• Fire pumps, jockey pumps, panels

• Valves, gauges, flexible hoses

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum: 10th / 12th pass (Diploma preferred)

• 2–5 years experience in Plumbing & Fire Fighting store management

• Basic knowledge of MEP drawings and material specifications

• Familiar with inventory software / Excel

• Good coordination and communication skills
