JOB DESCRIPTION –SALES MANAGER (TECHNO-COMMERCIAL)

Reporting to: Sales Head / Senior Sales Manager

Function: Sales & Business Development

Nature of Role: Individual Contributor with strong technical orientation

Role Objective

The Sales Manager shall support business growth by executing technically accurate, specification-compliant, and commercially disciplined sales activities for Power Photonix’s fiber-optic sensing and critical infrastructure solutions.

This role is intended for an engineering-qualified professional who is expected to build deep technical competence and progressively earn the right to represent the company independently in customer technical discussions.

Key Responsibilities

1.   Technical & Pre-Sales Responsibilities

  • Acquire and demonstrate working knowledge of DFOS (DTS/DAS), LHDS, PIDS, and associated system architectures.
  • Read, understand, and accurately interpret technical specifications, drawings, and tender documents.
  • Prepare technical submittals, compliance matrices, BOQs, and proposal drafts with minimal rework.
  • Identify and escalate technical risks, ambiguities, or non-compliances at proposal stage.

2.   Sales Execution

  • Manage assigned opportunities from lead qualification to order closure, under defined authority.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and technical clarification calls.
  • Coordinate internally with engineering, projects, SCM, and finance to ensure solution feasibility.
  • Maintain accurate and timely CRM updates, pipeline data, and documentation.

3.    Governance & Discipline

  • Follow approved sales processes, approval matrices, and bid governance.
  • Ensure no technical or commercial commitments are made without internal validation.

Mandatory Technical Expectations

  • Ability to explain:

o  Basic fiber-optic principles

o  Functional working of DTS/DAS/LHDS systems

o  Common installation and application risks

  • Ability to read and question datasheets, layouts, and system drawings.
  • Willingness to undergo continuous technical training and field exposure.

This is not a catalogue-selling role. Technical accuracy is a condition of confirmation.

Qualification & Experience

  • B.E./B.Tech – Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Telecom (mandatory).
  • 4–8 years in project sales, pre-sales, or application-oriented roles.
  • Prior exposure to infrastructure, utilities, EPCs, or industrial projects preferred.

Confirmation will be based on:

§ Demonstrated technical competence

§ Accuracy of proposals and compliance metrics

§ Ability to identify and escalate technical risks

§ Sales discipline and governance adherence
