Job Title: SMT Machine Operator & Programmer

Reports To: Production Manager / Senior Engineer

Role Overview: We are looking for a skilled SMT Technician to operate, program, and maintain our Pick and Place machine. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end SMT process—from setting up the machine for new PCBs to ensuring high-quality component placement and troubleshooting technical issues during production runs.

• Key Responsibilities:
• Operation & Setup:
• Set up and operate the SMT Pick and Place machine for daily production.
• Load feeders efficiently with correct components (Reels, Sticks, Trays).
• Perform machine changeovers for different PCB batches.
• Programming:
• Create new programs for new PCB designs using CAD data (Pick and Place files).
• Optimize existing programs to improve speed and accuracy.
• Adjust coordinates and fine-tune nozzle selection for complex components.
• Maintenance & Quality:
• Perform routine preventive maintenance (cleaning nozzles, greasing, checking sensors).
• Troubleshoot machine errors (pickup errors, vision errors) in real-time to minimize downtime.
• Conduct visual inspection of the first board (First Article Inspection) to ensure polarity and placement accuracy before mass production.
• Inventory & Documentation:
• Manage SMD component inventory (ensure correct storage of moisture-sensitive devices).
• Maintain daily production logs and machine maintenance history.

Job Specification (JS)

• 1. Educational Qualifications:
• Essential: ITI in Electronics / Instrumentation / Mechatronics OR Diploma in Electronics & Communication (ECE).
• Desirable: Certification in SMT Technology or IPC-A-610 standards.

• 2. Experience:
• Minimum: 2–5 years of hands-on experience in SMT line operation.
• Critical: Must have at least 1 year of experience specifically in programming (not just operating).

• 3. Technical Skills (Must Haves):
• Machine Knowledge: Familiarity with major SMT brands (QiHE). 
• Component Knowledge: Expert ability to identify SMD components (Resistors 0402/0603/0805, Capacitors, ICs, QFPs, Connectors) and read component values/polarity.
• Soldering: Basic hand-soldering skills for rework/touch-up are a huge plus.
• Software: Ability to read Gerber files/BOMs and basic computer proficiency (Excel/Machine Software).

• 4. Soft Skills:
• Attention to detail (critical for electronics manufacturing).
• Patience and ability to work under pressure during production targets.
• Willingness to work in shifts if required.
