Assistant Consultant: Geotechnical Engineer / BoQ Commercial Estimator

GEC Senior Site Investigation Estimator 

 Working primarily with SER's UK Contract Investigation team but also will occasionally support other disciplines within SER e.g. Geoenvironmental.  The candidate will support pursuit leads and project managers in developing accurate quotations and / or commercial measures. 

Key Functions

1. Working collaboratively with Pursuit Leads to:
   • Compile accurate costing templates to meet with technical specifications and tendering requirements.  Cost templates will primarily comprise UK industry standard or client specific bills of quantities
   • Engage with SER's approved supply chain to obtain project specific quotations and / or ground investigation framework rate cards
   • Maintain an up to date database of supplier rates
   • Accurate translation of bid estimates into Arcadis Commercial Tool (ACT)
2. Working collaboratively with Project Managers to:
   • Compile accurate measures / applications for payment
3. Mentoring of junior GEC Staff  
   • As the estimator function grows, onboard / develop additional junior GEC staff into role to provide greater capacity within this function

 Required Skills and Experience

•      5+ years industry ground investigation / ground engineering experience
•      Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
•      Strong data management skills
•      Familiarity with UK industry standard ground investigation specifications (primarily UK Specification for Ground Investigations, 2nd and 3rd Editions)
•     Experience of working with Bills of Quantities
•     Good communication skills (written and oral English)
•     Collaborative working·
•     Strong self-management skills including working to agreed bidding time and tender deadlines
