The position in discussion is with the Deal Advisory team at KDNI which is KPMG’s global delivery centre and is an integral part of the firm’s strategy to enhance innovation, build scalability, and improve profitability, globally.

KDN’ Deal Advisory Group is a team of 300+ professionals, majority based in Gurgaon.

KDN DA has been providing solutions to KPMG member firms globally. Leveraging insights and applying best practices, the team helps create customized approaches to M&A transactions. The team’s capabilities include Corporate Finance, Transaction Services, Strategy, Business Modeling, Accounting Advisory Services, Deal Advisory Research and Benchmarking

The Strategy team works with C-level Executives to identify, structure and solve their most critical strategic issues across the economic and transaction cycles. The Team: Deal Origination

The Deal Origination (DO) team came into existence in May-June 2022 and currently has a full 6-member team in function, supporting EMA deal origination practice. The team is performing exceptionally well as couple of pieces delivered over the last few months have received very positive response and may generate some good business volume for the practice.

There is currently an opportunity to join the Deal Origination team within Deal Advisory at an Associate Consultant level, as part of the Origination team’s ambitious growth plans.

Within Deal Advisory, the Origination team delivers market leading insights to KPMG clients, in advance of significant transactions. The team helps KPMG source, screen and present investment opportunities to KPMG’s clients. These act both sell side and buy side to inform clients and position KPMG as the appropriate adviser for transactions. 

The work involves researching the target company (or market), formulating a presentation of the target, seeking and incorporating inputs from KPMG’s accredited network of experts from across the firm and providing a clear go to market support to the onshore team.

 

JD:

• Maintenance of pipeline of PE assets in the aligned sector while also contributing to the efforts in other sectors; it will include in-depth research and analysis of sector assets and investors pool to have a view on what’s coming to market in the near-term and long-term
• Ability to present point of view on several internal/external network discussions with I-banks and senior partners of the firm
• Preparing asset packs for each target; identifying appropriate equity story through primary and secondary research, backed by data analysis, outside-in view from benchmarks and inputs from the accredited expert network
• Quality Assurance (QA) of the materials produced. This involves both initial QA on the first-round documentation and QA for the materials, following accredited expert feedback and further input
• Preparation of sector Thematics/industry POV documents for campaigning among the investors to showcase firm’s knowledge and credentials in the given sector/contemporary themes
• You will be responsible for each piece of work (typically an asset or sector review), following sourcing, right up to finalization of the KPMG materials, updating those materials, both during and following the production period and providing the onshore Origination team with whatever support they require to meet with our clients.
• Handling and executing the operational and day-to-day issues arising in a multi-jurisdiction Origination team from the KDN perspective.
• Identifying your development needs and taking steps to improve, by establishing the appropriate plans and frameworks
• Participating in the career and skills development infrastructure provided by the Firm and acting as a role model with colleagues and clients by living the values of the Firm

 

Skills Requirement:

You must have experience of the transaction life cycle and of supporting transactions in your career to date. To succeed in this varied and demanding role you will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

 

•       Post Graduate degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field from a premier institute with applicable industry and/or research experience  

•       Understanding of M&A life cycle, carve-out / bolt-ons of a PE business, cross-border M&A

•       Prepare transaction specific and marketing materials (teasers, information memorandum, pitch decks, corporate profiles, and industry data and analysis)

•       Identify potential financial and strategic buyers; perform in-depth company and industry research supporting specific client engagements and marketing opportunities

•       Deliver and manage projects on various origination initiatives including company profiles, target/buyer screenings, industry/thematic research and sector dashboards, etc.

•       Demonstrate strong business diagnostic skills and the ability to apply a logical and analytical approach to problem solving

•       Strong numerical, analytical and strategy thinking skills including the ability to interpret data and generate insights 

•       Strong interpersonal skills and self-awareness, enabling you to work with your colleagues (onshore/offshore)

•       Experience of working with cross-disciplinary and/or international teams

•       Excellent written & oral communication and presentation skills - Communicating clearly and confidently with internal and external stakeholders
