Data & Retail AWS Engineer

Main Purpose:

Responsible for designing, describing, and overseeing the implementation of complex software or IT solutions to meet business needs.

Play a key role in bridging the gap between business and technology, ensuring that the solution aligns with company objectives, requirements, and technical constraints

Function:

Candidate to have highly experience in cloud technical architect to lead designs, implementations, maintenance and optimization of cloud infrastructure solutions on Microsoft Azure based and Amazon Web Service platform.

Candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with MS Azure & AWS services, a deep understanding of cloud architecture best practices, and a proven track record of delivering complex, enterprise-scale cloud solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.​Solution Design:

• Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the design and implementation of Cloud based solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, to understand requirements and translate them into robust, scalable, and cost-effective technical solutions
• Develop and maintain reference architectures, design patterns, and implementation guidelines for cloud (MS Azure , AWS) services.
• Perform capacity planning, cost optimization, and performance tuning of AWS environments.
• Develop high-level designs, including system architecture, technology stacks and integration points.
• Ensure the proposed solution is scalable, secure, and cost-effective.
• Establish and maintain a constructive relationship with the support service provider(s)

2.​Technical Leadership:

• Lead technical teams through the development and deployment phases.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to development teams on clould platforms  best practices.
• Participate in the evaluation and selection of third-party tools and services for integration with Azure/AWS
• Wherever appropriate, evaluate and re-design Technical Architecture.
• Manage the high-priority incidents/issues when required.

3.Evaluation of Technologies:

• Assess new technologies, tools, and methodologies to improve existing systems.
• Recommend suitable frameworks, platforms, or software packages.
• Incorporate Puma IT Service Management best practices providing value to IT projects.
• Proactively identify and mitigate IT operational risks due to Architecture or design.
• Working closely with PMs and Delivery Managers to make sure solution delivery under approved design.
• Conduct regular audits and assessments to maintain cloud environment integrity.

4.Governance and Compliance:

• Ensure solutions adhere to IT standards, security protocols, and compliance regulations.
• Create and maintain documentation, including solution architecture diagrams and technical specifications.
• Be a part of Change Advisory Board Approvers to make sure changes applies IT standard and manages architecture /designs impacts

5.​ Stakeholder Engagement:

• Lead technical teams through the development and deployment phases.
• Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting, and best practices to developers and engineers.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, such as business analysts, developers, and project managers.
• Work with IT Retail Support Services providers to act with empathy when resolve client issues.
• Work in a “Problem Solving” mode when be able to Identify an issue.

Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of software architecture, cloud solutions with focused on MS Azure.
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles, including high availability, scalability, security, and cost optimization
• Extensive hands-on experience with a wide range of Clould Platform (AWS/Azure)  services, including EC2, VPC, ELB, RDS, S3, CloudFront, Lambda, and more.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Node.js)
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
• MS Azure Certified , AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional) or equivalent certification is required.
• Familiarity with cloud security best practices such as Identity and Access Management (IAM), and encryption strategies.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies like containers, microservices, and serverless architecture.
• Experience with a range of technologies, such as microservices, APIs, databases, and DevOps practices.
• Ability to work in a fast paced and high-pressured environment.
• Speak Spanish and English fluently
• Capable of managing multiple initiatives and remote/offshore resources

Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related IT field (Cloud Platforms certifications and retail industry experience are advantageous).
• 8-10 years of experience in designing and implementing cloud solutions, with a strong focus on Azure or AWS (Databricks is a plus)
• Proven track record in leading technical teams and delivering complex projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical constraints.
• Extensive experience in architecting cloud-based and on-premises solutions, including platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP.
• Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, API management, and integration of diverse systems and platforms.
• Technical and hands on knowledge on Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Networking, IT Security, FCC Wayne Fusion setup (Desirable) and configuration Mobile app store administration
• Skilled in identifying business requirements and translating them into scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate and select technology stacks, tools, and platforms for optimal performance and reliability.
• Multicultural environment experience

Skills: 

• Fluent in English and Spanish
• Experience in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) mainy in MS Azure
• Strong skills in solution architecture for omnichannel retail, mobile payments, and digital customer experiences.
