Deputy General Manager (MEP) - Projects

Responsibilities

MEPF Execution & Project Coordination:

Lead and oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of MEPF systems in construction projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications.

Manage end-to-end execution of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, firefighting, and utility systems to ensure seamless integration.

Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure work progress aligns with approved drawings, specifications, and schedules.

Resolve technical challenges and site constraints related to MEPF installations by coordinating with consultants, architects, and structural engineers.

Ensure strict adherence to project timelines, proactively addressing any delays or bottlenecks in execution.

Quality & Safety Compliance:

Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure MEPF installations meet industry standards, regulatory guidelines, and client requirements.

Conduct regular safety audits to ensure proper adherence to fire safety, electrical safety, and occupational health standards.

Ensure compliance with national and international codes such as NFPA, NBC, IEC, IS codes, and local building regulations.

Work with the safety team to identify and mitigate risks associated with MEPF activities.

Contractor & Vendor Management:

Supervise MEPF contractors and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations, timelines, and budgets.

Review contractor shop drawings, method statements, and work schedules for accuracy and feasibility.

Approve MEPF material submittals, ensuring they meet project specifications and quality standards.

Monitor vendor and contractor performance, addressing non-compliance and recommending corrective actions.

Testing, Commissioning & Handover:

Lead testing and commissioning of all MEPF systems, ensuring smooth functionality and integration before project handover.

Ensure that as-built drawings, operation & maintenance manuals, and final reports are properly documented and submitted.

Coordinate final inspections and certifications with relevant authorities and clients for project completion.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Coordination:

Act as a single point of contact for all MEPF-related execution matters, coordinating with architects, engineers, project managers, and client representatives.

Participate in weekly project review meetings, reporting progress, challenges, and mitigation strategies to senior management.

Collaborate with procurement teams to source quality materials while ensuring cost-effectiveness.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure MEPF installations adhere to local, national, and international building regulations.

Coordinate with government authorities and regulatory bodies for permits, inspections, and approvals.

Ensure all documentation and statutory compliance filings are completed on time to avoid project delays.

Risk Management:

Identify potential risks related to MEPF execution, including design deviations, safety hazards, and cost overruns.

Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize disruptions.

Conduct risk assessments before critical project phases and implement necessary controls.

Budget Management:

Manage the budget for MEPF projects, ensuring that all activities are completed within financial constraints while maximizing value. Assist in tracking project expenditures and ensuring efficient resource allocation.

Site Inspections and Construction Monitoring:

Conduct regular site visits to oversee construction progress, address any on-site issues, and ensure that the MEPF work meets quality, safety, and design standards. Provide design clarifications and support to execution teams as needed throughout the project lifecycle.

Industry Awareness and Innovation:

Stay updated with the latest advancements in materials, technologies, and industry trends to drive innovation and maintain excellence in MEPF practices. Promote the use of smart automation in MEPF systems, such as energy-efficient HVAC controls and automated fire detection systems.

Train the project team on advanced digital solutions to improve efficiency and streamline workflows.

Team Leadership and Development:

Lead and mentor a team of MEPF professionals, providing them with guidance and support. Identify training needs and focus on skill development to enhance team effectiveness and foster an innovative work environment.

Qualifications

Education Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.

Master's degree in any of the related disciplines is preferred

Work Experience:

10 - 15 years of experience in Mechanical/Electrical engineering with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing airport development projects.Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng)/LEED Accreditation/Project Management Certification is preferred.

Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and firefighting system execution.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), BIM, and project scheduling tools (Primavera/MS Project).
