Role Summary
- The IB FRM team is a strategic function within the IB CFO Strategy & Planning division, responsible for the analysis, planning, and optimisation of financial resources across the Investment Bank. This includes Risk Weighted Assets (RWA), leverage exposure, balance sheet, liquidity, and funding.
- This role is suited for a technology-enabled Associate who will enhance FRM’s analytical, automation, and innovation capabilities. The ideal candidate will combine foundational financial resource knowledge with strong technical expertise in Python and SQL to strengthen forecasting, reporting, and process efficiency across the Book of Work, including the development of visual dashboards.
Role Description
- The IB Financial Resource Management (FRM) team supports capital demand planning, embeds business outlooks, and informs management views for financial resource steering.
- This Associate role will contribute directly to core FRM deliverables while helping modernise and digitise processes and tools across the function.

Your key responsibilities
- Support the monthly flash and forecast process for financial resources, including RWA, leverage exposure, and liquidity.
- Conduct data-driven financial analysis and support business commentary using automated and scalable analytical tools.
- Build and maintain Python-based analytics modules, process automations, and reusable scripts to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop and optimise SQL pipelines for sourcing, transforming, and quality-checking large regulatory and financial datasets.
- Create visual dashboards to present trends, highlight key issues, and support management discussions (e.g., IB ALCO).
- Assist in developing materials for governance forums by generating automated analytics, charts, and insights.
- Support FRM’s involvement in capital allocation, limit monitoring, and deep-dive portfolio analyses.
- Contribute to operationalising and tracking the FRM strategic plan through data-driven metrics and automation.
- Strengthen data quality, control checks, and reproducibility using scripting, workflows, and code frameworks.
- Drive innovation across the FRM Book of Work, including process simplification, tool upgrades, and adoption of Power Platform solutions.
- Perform ad hoc financial resource analysis, including return metrics, stress impacts, and risk-specific parameter monitoring.
- Stay informed on regulatory and business developments and integrate relevant changes into FRM analytics and forecasting tools.
Your skills and experience
Technical Skills (Core)
- Python (pandas, numpy, data processing, automation, basic ML algorithms)
- SQL (optimised queries, data transformations, control frameworks)
- Data visualisation (dashboards, automation, business insights)
- Power Platform (Power Automate / Power Apps /Power Query— nice to have)
- Excel proficiency; VBA beneficial but optional if Python expertise is strong
- Familiarity with AI-driven workflows and software engineering techniques (preferred)
- Exposure to running and streamlining a data pipeline project (desirable, not mandatory)
FRM / Banking Knowledge (Working Level)
- Understanding of key metrics: RWA, leverage exposure, balance sheet resources, liquidity measures
- Basic understanding of IB products, risk types, and regulatory drivers
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
- High attention to detail and data quality
