Java Developer – Microservices, Cloud (AWS) & Security Best Practices

Job Summary

Synechron is seeking a skilled Java Developer to design, develop, and maintain high-quality enterprise applications within highly regulated financial environments. This role focuses on building scalable, secure, and reliable solutions supporting trading, banking, and data processing functions. As part of our engineering team, you will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into efficient, robust Java-based systems, contributing toward operational excellence and technological innovation.

Software Requirements

Required:

• Extensive hands-on experience in Java development, including deployment of scalable applications (5+ years)

• Proficiency in JUnit testing for unit and integration testing

• Strong knowledge of Spring Framework and Spring Boot for building RESTful APIs and enterprise services

• Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments

• Strong understanding of SQL and relational database management systems (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL)

• Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN

• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment

Preferred:

• Experience working in financial services or banking domains

• Knowledge of NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Kafka messaging systems

• Hands-on experience building REST APIs and microservices architectures

• Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly AWS (EC2, Lambda, ECS, CloudFormation, CodePipeline)

Overall Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy scalable Java applications supporting business functions such as trading, banking, or risk management

• Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, and other engineering teams to translate complex requirements into technical solutions

• Write clean, efficient, and reusable code adhering to best practices and security standards

• Conduct code reviews, perform performance tuning, and optimize application components for high throughput

• Implement and support automation CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar

• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues quickly, ensuring system stability and security

• Document system designs, APIs, and deployment procedures to support maintenance and compliance audits

• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives

• Stay current with industry standards, security practices, and emerging technologies relevant to enterprise application development

Technical Skills (By Category)

Programming Languages (Essential):

• Java (version 8+) for application development and integration

• SQL for database querying and data validation

Preferred:

• Additional programming knowledge: JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python for automation and interface development

Frameworks & Libraries:

• Spring Framework / Spring Boot for RESTful services and enterprise applications

• JUnit or similar testing frameworks for unit testing

Databases & Data Management:

• Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL for relational data storage

• Familiarity with NoSQL systems like MongoDB or Kafka queues (preferred)

Cloud Technologies:

• AWS: EC2, Lambda, ECS, CloudFormation, CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CloudWatch

DevOps & Automation:

• CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or TeamCity

• Version control: Git / SVN

• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible

Security & Compliance:

• Knowledge of secure coding practices, data encryption, and security protocols suitable for financial systems

Experience Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing scalable enterprise applications in Java

• Experience working in regulated industries such as finance, banking, or trading platforms

• Proven track record of implementing secure, high-performance systems supporting critical workflows

• Familiarity with microservices, REST API design, and cloud deployment strategies (AWS preferred)

• Experience in troubleshooting production issues and optimizing system performance

Day-to-Day Activities

• Develop, modify, and optimize Java-based enterprise applications

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable solutions

• Write and automate unit and integration tests to ensure application quality

• Conduct code reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives

• Support system deployment, configuration, and monitoring tasks

• Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks or security issues in production environments

• Maintain technical documentation for system architecture, APIs, and deployment processes

• Participate in Agile sprint planning, daily standups, and collaboration meetings

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience in enterprise or financial environments

• Demonstrated knowledge of microservices architecture, API development, and cloud deployment

• Relevant certifications such as Java SE/EE or AWS Certified Developer (preferred)
