Quality Assurance and Quality Control Manager - Precast Yard

QA/QC Manager - Pre Cast Yard

1. Quality Management System (QMS)

• Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Plan, ITPs, SOPs, and Work Instructions for the precast yard.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, project specifications, and relevant international precast/tunnel standards (e.g., BS EN 206, ACI, ASHTOO, FIB).
• Conduct internal audits and lead client/consultant audits.

2. Precast Production Quality Control

• Oversee the quality of segment moulds, rebar cages, gaskets, concrete mix, curing, and final product finishing.
• Approve concrete mix designs, monitor batching plant operations, and validate trial mix results.
• Ensure dimensional tolerances, surface finish, weight, lifting points, and embedded items meet design requirements.
• Implement corrective actions for issues such as honeycombing, cracking, spalling, or misalignment.

3. Testing & Inspection

• Manage routine tests for:
  • Concrete compressive strength
  • Reinforcement mechanical properties
  • Gasket installation & watertightness
  • Lifting anchors/pins
  • Geometrical checks using templates, laser scanning, or total station
• Maintain traceability of all test reports and inspection documentation.

4. Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare and maintain:
  • QC inspection reports
  • NCRs, CARs, and preventive action reports
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly QA/QC summaries
  • Calibration records of instruments
• Ensure documentation is aligned with project QA/QC requirements.

5. Team Leadership

• Lead and mentor QA/QC inspectors, lab technicians, and surveyors.
• Conduct training on quality standards, inspection methods, and workmanship improvement.
• Coordinate with production, planning, mould maintenance, and HSE departments.

6. Interface & Coordination

• Act as the primary quality interface with:
  • Client & consultant QA/QC teams
  • Design and technical department
  • External third?party testing agencies
  • TBM / tunnel construction team regarding segment performance feedback

7. Segment Performance & Continuous Improvement

• Monitor segment rejection rate and perform root?cause analysis.
• Implement lean production methods for reducing wastage.
• Drive initiatives to improve durability, dimensional accuracy, and production efficiency.

8. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, lifting standards, and handling protocols.
• Guarantee that precast elements meet structural and durability requirements for long-term tunnel performance.
