Strategic Negotiator, Data Center Site Acquisition
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience in leading negotiations or business development.
- Experience with power transmission and distribution, telecommunications infrastructure, data center technology, industrial class electrical and cooling technology.
- Experience with collocation agreements, site selection for projects, real estate evaluation, acquisition, development, and construction; managing utility agreements, energy-related issues, implementation of clean energy initiatives, financial modeling.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in real estate development, evaluation, acquisition, construction, and site selection for projects.
- Experience in managing utility agreements and energy-related issues, with financial modeling and implementing clean energy initiatives.
- Experience in indirect taxes, economic development policy, infrastructure development, agreement drafting, and presentation development within data center real estate markets.
- Ability to think and propose commercial and technical solutions.
- Ability to work in ambiguous, collaborative, and changing environments.

As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.
The Infrastructure Construction and Asset Management (ICAM) team, a component of the AI2 organization, is responsible for overseeing Google's off-site infrastructure, inventory land development, and both leased and owned data center assets. This includes construction and delivery of off-site infrastructure projects, administration and management of leased obligations, land development, and management of inventory properties.
In this role, you will work with the land acquisition team and other teams to ensure that owned land assets complete all required pre-data center construction development activities to meet the requirements of the Asset Supply Plan Of Record (APOR) for data center capacity delivery, which includes delivering sites at the time, cost, capacity, and with the characteristics as required, ensuring the ability to construct the cost-effective data center capacity. You will serve as the site lead post-site acquisition through end of life for the site activities, maintaining and facilitating internal and external relationships necessary for continued development and operational success.

Responsibilities
- Work with internal and external technical teams to identify, define, and pursue new site expansion projects and initiatives necessary to meet Google's ongoing data center needs including the procurement of infrastructure for existing and new sites.
- Serve as a commercial liaison between vendors and internal stakeholders. Develop and work on regional or market segment strategy for infrastructure development programs. Influence third-party strategy at the executive level.
- Manage confidential projects with awareness of value and timing, and contribute to development of overall project plans.
- Facilitate all types of agreements with all types of vendors. Lead the development of agreements with vendors, landowners, and key suppliers for space and utility services.
- Develop and implement metrics for mapping, tracking, and lead portfolio management issues regarding site/infrastructure development.
