As a Vice President within the Wholesale Lending Services team, you will report directly to the Executive Director, Asia Pacific Wholesale Lending Services, and the Executive Director, Credit Product Delivery (CPD). You will be responsible for establishing and leading the Mumbai Branch Wholesale Lending Services organization, building the team and institutionalizing the operational framework. Your scope includes coordination, funding and loan servicing for the India business. In addition, you will serve as the primary point of contact for loan-related regulatory matters, representing the Mumbai Branch Wholesale Lending Services team in interactions with local regulators and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory circulars and requirements.

The Mumbai Branch Wholesale Lending Services team will be dedicated to providing best-in-class servicing support for the lending franchise of the Mumbai Branch. The primary focus of this role is to ensure seamless, accurate, and timely servicing of loan portfolios, tailored to the needs of clients and business partners. This includes overseeing all aspects of loan servicing operations, maintaining high standards of client service and ensuring robust risk and control practices.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead the establishment of the Wholesale Lending Services team in Mumbai, including recruiting, onboarding, and staff development
  • Design and implement robust operational processes and controls for loan servicing for the India lending franchise
  • Oversee the development of operational capabilities for bilateral and syndicated deal and facility management, loan booking, accounting, and loan agency within the Mumbai Branch
  • Build and cultivate strong relationships with different lines of business and stakeholders across the firm, acting as an ambassador for Wholesale Lending Services in Mumbai
  • Ensure the productivity and quality of the teams, acting as a senior point of contact for business segment heads, Credit Risk, Legal and other key business partners
  • Maintain strong oversight of the risk and control environment; represent Mumbai Wholesale Lending Services in firm-wide risk forums, audit cycles and operational risk reviews
  • Foster a culture of continuous process improvement by identifying and driving the implementation of technology initiatives and operational process changes to meet the requirements of the lending franchise and clients in Mumbai
  • Participate in project proposals, group objectives, and regional discussions; contribute to the strategic direction and vision of the Mumbai Wholesale Lending Services team
  • Act as the principal representative for the Mumbai Branch Wholesale Lending Services in all regulatory engagements, proactively managing relationships with local regulators, driving compliance excellence and safeguarding the branch’s interests in all matters related to loan servicing operations

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in financial services industry
  • Proven experience in building and leading high-performance teams
  • Strong decision-making capabilities and the ability to identify problems and propose solutions; initiative to escalate issues to relevant parties when needed
  • Excellent organizational, presentation and communication skills; relationship-building skills with team members and business partners; ability to influence, drive and implement change across teams and interact confidently with all levels of stakeholders
  • Acute awareness of operational risks throughout the lending lifecycle
  • Results-driven; ability to lead and drive execution; methodical approach to identifying and solving issues
  • Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to accept new assignments and challenges in a rapidly changing environment
  • Extensive experience in regulatory engagement and compliance within financial services, with a proven ability to effectively represent the organization in interactions with local regulators
  • A strong understanding of lending operations is critical, along with knowledge of Loan IQ and facility documentation
  • Able to work on weekends or additional hours as needed

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Prior experience in setting up new teams or functions will be ideal
  • Experience in project management or process improvement initiatives
