Job Purpose:

The Lead - Hub Assembly manages the Hub assembly line, ensuring compliance with production schedules, engineering specifications, and quality standards. This role provides technical troubleshooting, optimizes assembly workflows, and enforces safety protocols. The Lead is responsible for team management, material coordination, and driving continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring the Hub assembly operations are efficient, safe, and aligned with company policies.

Hub Assembly Line Management

  • Oversee the Hub assembly line operations, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, production schedules, and quality standards.
  • Optimize assembly workflows through line balancing, workstation setup, and process adjustments to enhance productivity and reduce cycle times.

Technical Troubleshooting and Process Optimization

  • Provide technical leadership in diagnosing and resolving assembly line issues, using diagnostic tools such as fault tree analysis (FTA) and root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering teams to implement process optimizations and address recurring technical challenges.

Quality Assurance and Process Control

  • Enforce strict adherence to quality control procedures, using Statistical Process Control (SPC) and control charts to monitor and maintain product quality.
  • Lead corrective action initiatives for non-conformities, working closely with QA to develop and implement effective preventive measures.

Team Management and Skill Allocation

  • Manage a team of assembly Technician, assigning tasks based on skill levels and ensuring that each member is adequately trained for their role.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, identify skill gaps, and coordinate with HR for targeted training programs.

Safety Management and Compliance

  • Enforce safety standards, conducting regular safety audits and ensuring that all assembly activities comply with OSHA, ISO 45001, and company-specific safety protocols.
  • Implement ergonomic adjustments and safe handling procedures to minimize injury risks and enhance the safety of assembly operations.

Continuous Improvement and Kaizen Leadership

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, Lean manufacturing techniques, and Kaizen events to drive process simplification and efficiency gains.
  • Implement best practices in assembly, such as error-proofing (Poka-Yoke) and quick changeover techniques, to enhance workflow.

Material Coordination and Inventory Control

  • Work closely with the Material Coverage Control Engineer to ensure timely availability of components, monitoring inventory levels, and addressing shortages or overstock situations.
  • Manage the storage and flow of assembly materials, maintaining accurate inventory records and preventing disruptions.

Stakeholder Communication and Reporting

  • Maintain open communication with engineering, quality, and production planning teams, providing updates on assembly progress, challenges, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on Hub assembly line performance, including key indicators such as first-pass yield, throughput, and downtime.

Ethical Leadership and Policy Adherence

  • Uphold ethical standards in all assembly activities, ensuring compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of integrity and accountability among the assembly team, promoting adherence to ethical guidelines.

Technology Integration and Support

  • Support the implementation of new assembly technologies, including automated tooling and augmented reality (AR) systems for assembly guidance.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing assembly tools and equipment, recommending improvements to enhance precision and reduce manual effort.

Educational Background

  • Diploma or BE in Mechanical Engineering.

Work Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in assembly operations, with a focus on Hub assembly.

Industry Knowledge

  • Specialization in  testing of Nacelle  and Hub, quality control, process improvement, and equipment maintenance.
