Manager - Digital (Container Freight Station)

Responsibilities

1. Digital Strategy & Transformation


• Develop and execute the digital roadmap for the CFS in alignment with business goals.
• Drive automation projects across gate, yard, documentation, billing, accounts, and customer service.
• Identify digital gaps and propose innovative solutions to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
2. System Implementation & Management


• Oversee deployment and enhancement of TOS (Terminal Operating Systems) / CFS management systems.
• Lead implementation of WMS, RFID/barcode solutions, EDI integrations, gate automation, and mobile apps.
• Evaluate and adopt digital tools such as OCR scanners, weighbridge integrations, CCTV/ANPR, IoT sensors, and GPS tracking.
3. Process Automation & Optimization


• Automate workflows for gate pass, DO release, invoicing, stuffing/de-stuffing planning, and cargo movement.
• Implement dashboards for operational KPIs: throughput, yard utilization, dwell time, equipment productivity.
• Digitize paper-heavy processes like container surveys, damage reports, equipment logs, and vendor billing.
4. Data Analytics & Reporting


• Develop real-time MIS dashboards for management across operational, financial, and commercial metrics.
• Analyze data to improve capacity planning, revenue leakage control, and customer behavior insights.
• Drive predictive analytics for equipment deployment, cargo flow, and system maintenance.
5. Cybersecurity & Compliance


• Ensure data security, backup protocols, user access control, and system compliance.
• Implement best practices for cybersecurity and digital governance.
• Coordinate IT audits and ensure adherence to statutory requirements (Customs, port, GST, etc.).
6. Vendor, Partner & Stakeholder Management


• Manage relationships with software vendors, digital solution providers, and hardware suppliers.
• Finalize scope of work, SLAs, and evaluation metrics for digital platforms.
• Coordinate cross-functionally with operations, documentation, commercial, finance, and customer service teams.
7. Customer & Partner Digital Experience


• Build digital portals for customers, shipping lines, CHAs, and transporters.
• Implement real-time cargo tracking, automated alerts, e-payment systems, and digital documentation.
• Improve customer turnaround, transparency, and service reliability through tech-enabled solutions.

 

Key Skills Required

• Strong knowledge of CFS/ICD operations, EXIM processes, Customs requirements.
• Experience with TOS, WMS, ERP, EDI, API integrations, gate automation, GPS/IoT solutions.
• Understanding of SQL databases, cloud systems, cybersecurity, and data analytics tools (Power BI/Tableau).
• Exposure to AI/ML, RPA (Robotic Process Automation), OCR, and workflow engines (preferred)

Qualifications

• B.Tech/B.E. in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or related fields.
• MBA in Technology Management / Operations (added advantage).
• 5–15 years of experience in digital transformation within CFS/ICD/Port/Logistics/3PL sectors.
