Job Description
Role Overview:
The Family Care Manager (FCM) plays a critical role in supporting elderly parents living in India while maintaining transparent, compassionate coordination with their children living abroad (NRIs). This role requires a high degree of empathy, patience, flexibility, and proactive thinking. The FCM is not only responsible for medical coordination but also for regular non-medical companionship and lifestyle support, especially for the parents' emotional and social wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
Support to Parents (Medical + Non-Medical)
- Coordinate and manage doctor appointments, diagnostic tests, therapy sessions, and follow-up visits
- Conduct home visits to check on parents’ health, comfort, safety, mood, and daily needs
- Accompany parents to hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centres as required
- Support hospital admission and discharge processes, ensuring continuity of care and documentation
- Assist with prescription refills, medication purchases, and adherence reminders
- Maintain and update medical records, reports, prescriptions, and care notes
- Provide regular wellbeing check-ins through calls or in-person interactions
- Support non-medical needs and companionship, including assistance with local errands and/or short outings
- Observe and document changes in physical health, emotional wellbeing, or daily functioning
- Arrange and coordinate additional services when required (physiotherapy, nursing, diagnostics, caregivers), based on the selected care plan
Emergency & Ongoing Support
- Act as the primary on-ground responder during medical or unexpected emergencies
- Coordinate ambulance services and hospital escalation
- Communicate promptly and clearly with doctors, internal teams, and the NRI families during emergencies
- Leverage 24/7 contact centre support appropriately for escalation and coordination
Support to NRI Family Members:
- Provide regular, structured updates on health, visits, incidents, and overall wellbeing
- Serve as the single, reliable point of contact for concerns, emergencies, and coordination
- Ensure all parent information, visit notes, prescriptions, and reports are accurately maintained in the system
- Communicate with empathy, patience, and professionalism to build trust and reassurance
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Nursing or healthcare background preferred
- Comfortable with both medical coordination and non-medical support
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Calm, empathetic, reliable, and proactive
- Willing to travel locally and build long-term rapport
Why This Role Matters:
This role is not transactional—it is deeply personal. The Family Care Manager becomes a trusted extension of a family, ensuring that parents feel cared for and children living far away feel connected, informed, and reassured.
