Accounts Head – International Commodity Trading

We are looking for an Accounts Head to manage the financial operations of our African trading companies (Tanzania, Nigeria, Malawi) involved in international agro-commodity trade.

This role is ideal for someone who wants real ownership, operational exposure, and direct involvement in a fast-moving international business.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Control & Reporting

* Maintain accurate financial records and ensure real-time visibility of company finances

* Prepare commodity-wise and lot-wise profitability reports

* Monitor fund flow, cash positions, and working capital utilisation

* Develop business dashboards, ratios, and performance metrics

Reconciliation & Controls

* Perform bank, vendor, buyer, and shipment reconciliations

* Track weight differences, processing losses, and inventory balances

* Identify errors, financial leakages, and operational discrepancies

Commodity & Lot Costing

* Maintain lot costing for commodities across sourcing, processing, logistics, and export

* Ensure correct allocation of freight, handling, processing, and other costs

* Produce commodity-wise P&L reports

Systems & Process Development

* Design and improve accounting procedures and internal financial controls

* Build systems to ensure accuracy, traceability, and operational discipline

Compliance & Audit

* Coordinate local audits and regulatory compliance for African entities

* Maintain financial records aligned with local statutory requirements

Ideal Candidate

* 5+ years experience in accounts or finance leadership

* Strong in Excel and accounting systems (Zoho Books preferred)

* Comfortable handling foreign currency transactions and international trade

* Detail-oriented with a systems-thinking approach

* Able to work closely with operations teams across multiple countries
