Job Description – Accountant (Transportation & Aggregates Business)


Position: Accountant

Department: Accounts & Finance

Reporting To: Finance Head / Director


Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant with strong experience in transportation and aggregates supply business accounting. The candidate should have practical knowledge of construction aggregates such as 10mm, 20mm, 40mm, Dust, and GSB, along with understanding of their procurement, dispatch, transportation logistics, and billing processes.


The role requires maintaining accurate financial records, handling transport billing, managing vendor and contractor payments, and ensuring smooth financial operations related to the aggregates and logistics business.

Key Responsibilities


1. Accounting & Financial Management


Maintain day-to-day accounting records including purchase, sales, expenses, and journal entries.


Manage accounts payable and receivable related to aggregates supply and transportation services.


Prepare monthly financial reports, ledgers, and reconciliation statements.


Handle GST compliance, tax filings, and statutory requirements.



2. Transportation & Logistics Accounting


Maintain records of transportation bills, trip sheets, diesel expenses, driver payments, and freight charges.


Verify lorry receipts (LR), weighbridge slips, delivery challans, and transport invoices.


Track vehicle-wise, trip-wise, and material-wise billing.


Maintain records of transport contractors and fleet expenses.



3. Aggregates Business Accounting


Maintain proper accounting and stock records of aggregates including 10mm, 20mm, 40mm, Dust, and GSB.


Track material dispatch, weighment records, and site delivery documentation.


Coordinate with operations and site teams for accurate material quantity reconciliation.


Monitor purchase and sale transactions of aggregates.



4. Vendor & Contractor Management


Verify bills from transport vendors, suppliers, and contractors.


Maintain vendor ledger accounts and payment schedules.


Ensure proper documentation for material supply and transport charges.



5. Documentation & Compliance


Maintain all financial documents, invoices, delivery challans, and transport documentation.


Ensure audit-ready financial records.


Support internal and external audits when required.

Required Skills & Knowledge


Strong knowledge of transportation accounting and logistics billing.


Practical understanding of aggregates materials (10mm, 20mm, 40mm, Dust, GSB) and their supply chain.


Experience in Tally, Excel, and accounting software.


Knowledge of GST, invoicing, and taxation related to transport and material supply.


Strong attention to detail and financial accuracy.

Qualifications


Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (B.Com) / Accounting / Finance.


3–5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, construction materials, or aggregates business accounting preferred.

Experience working with construction material suppliers, quarry operators, or transport companies.


Ability to manage high-volume billing and operational coordination.
