Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and fast-paced Accountant to sit at the retail sales counter for our client, a large wholesaler of perfume and fragrance-related products. The client's business handles around 1,500 SKUs with complex backend manufacturing and multi-level warehousing. We need a Tally expert who can set up and operate a comprehensive system from scratch, seamlessly managing rapid front-end billing while ensuring strict backend inventory accuracy and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Tally Setup & System Management

• Set up and configure Tally from scratch, including creating the deep godown hierarchy (Main Warehouse à Almirahs à Compartments/Racks), stock items, units of measurement, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Manage user roles and permissions in Tally, configuring access so that front-end billing terminals are restricted from viewing Profit & Loss and financial reports.
• Ensure real-time data synchronization across multiple devices over the internet.

Billing & Inventory Operations

• Manage day-to-day accounting, process fast-paced counter billing directly on Tally Prime, and handle ledger maintenance and bank reconciliations.
• Handle specialized retail billing flows, generating invoices and POS slips that instantly reduce physical stock on hand.
• Manage sub-packaging inventory using Tally’s BOM feature, recording manufacturing/assembly journals to ensure raw materials (bulk liquid, empty bottles, rollers, caps, pouches, labels, carry bags) are automatically consumed when a finished bottle is sold.
• Configure and manage compound units with conversion factors (purchasing bulk oils in Kgs, but stocking and selling in MLs) while accounting for the unique viscosity levels across different perfume variants.
• Maintain and track accurate inventory across multiple godowns, record stock transfers to the main store, and ensure real-time inventory accuracy across all locations.

Compliance & Reporting

• Handling GST filings, returns, and input/output tax reconciliations.
• Prepare financial statements, Profit & Loss accounts, and balance sheets on a monthly/quarterly basis, and assist with periodic financial closings.
• Generate MIS and inventory reports for management review, including godown-wise stock summaries, low-stock alerts, and sales reports.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in accounting and daily bookkeeping.
• Expert proficiency in Tally (ERP 9 / Prime), specifically with advanced inventory features like BOM, compound/alternate units, POS billing, and multi-godown management.
• Ability to work directly at the front sales counter, handling high-volume transactions with excellent numerical accuracy and speed.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced retail/wholesale office environment.
• Prior experience in the perfume, FMCG, or retail sector is a strong plus.
