We are now building a cutting-edge Legal AI Platform — purpose-built for the Indian legal ecosystem — and are looking for a brilliant AI/ML Engineer to join us in-house and lead the AI brain behind this product.

The Role

As our in-house AI/ML Engineer, you will be the architect and builder of the intelligence layer powering our Legal AI platform. You will train AI models on Indian law — statutes, case law, regulatory frameworks, and legal procedures — and build autonomous AI agents capable of crawling, scraping, and synthesising legal information from across the internet. This is a ground-floor opportunity to build something transformative from scratch.

Key Responsibilities•      

Design, develop, and train AI/ML models specifically tailored for Indian legal research, case analysis, and document drafting

•      Build and maintain robust web scraping pipelines to collect legal data from Indian court databases (Supreme Court, High Courts, Tribunals), government gazettes, legal journals, and regulatory portals

•      Develop autonomous AI agents (agentic AI) that can crawl the internet, identify relevant legal resources, extract structured data, and continuously update the knowledge base

•      Fine-tune large language models (LLMs) on Indian legal corpora including statutes, bare acts, judgments, legal commentary, and regulatory guidelines

•      Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines for accurate, citation-backed legal responses

•      Build and maintain vector databases and knowledge graphs for efficient legal information retrieval

•      Develop APIs and integrate AI capabilities into the platform’s frontend and backend systems

•      Ensure data quality, compliance with scraping ethics, and responsible AI practices

•      Collaborate closely with practising lawyers and litigation teams to validate AI outputs against real-world legal standards

•      Stay current with the latest advances in AI/ML, NLP, and legal technology

Requirements•      3+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML engineering, with a strong portfolio of shipped products or models

•      Deep expertise in Python, with proficiency in frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face Transformers, and LangChain/LlamaIndex

•      Proven experience with LLM fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and building RAG architectures

•      Strong experience in web scraping and data extraction (Scrapy, Selenium, BeautifulSoup, Playwright, or similar tools)

•      Experience building autonomous AI agents with tool use, planning, and multi-step reasoning capabilities

•      Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, ChromaDB) and embedding models

•      Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure) for model deployment and scaling

•      Understanding of NLP techniques for Indian languages (Hindi, regional languages) is a strong plus

•      Prior experience in legal tech, compliance tech, or domain-specific AI applications is highly desirable

•      Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take ownership of the entire AI stack

Nice to Have•      Familiarity with Indian legal databases (Indian Kanoon, SCC Online, Manupatra, eSCR)

•      Experience with OCR and document parsing for Indian court orders and legal documents

•      Knowledge of Indian IT Act and data privacy regulations

•      Experience deploying production AI systems at scale
