Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Himalayan Cuisine Chef to lead food preparation for our specialty brand, Yak & Yeti’s Himalayan Comfort Food.


The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Nepali, Tibetan, and Himalayan-style comfort food, including momos, thakali thalis, jhol gravies, sekuwa, parathas, wai wai snacks, wraps, and authentic breakfast combinations.


This role requires someone who can maintain authentic mountain flavors, ensure consistency across dine-in and delivery orders, and contribute to menu innovation while preserving traditional taste.





Key Responsibilities



  • Prepare and execute authentic Himalayan and Nepali dishes as per menu standards
  • Specialize in:
  • Steam momos, jhol momos, butter chicken momos
  • Chicken sekuwa, chicken sadeko, wai wai sadeko
  • Thakali thali, bhat bowls, dal bhat combinations
  • Aloo & paneer parathas with jimbu seasoning
  • Himalayan wraps and chow chow noodles
  • Masala chai, butter tea, mint buttermilk

  • Prepare signature chutneys, jhol gravies, achars, spice blends, and marinades
  • Ensure proper steaming, grilling, sautéing, and curry preparation techniques
  • Maintain portion control, presentation, and recipe consistency
  • Oversee prep kitchen operations, mise en place, and stock rotation
  • Train junior kitchen staff on momo folding, jhol preparation, and Himalayan cooking methods
  • Maintain hygiene, food safety, and kitchen cleanliness standards
  • Support menu engineering and new product development for seasonal specials






Required Skills & Experience



5+ years of experience in Nepali, Tibetan, Himalayan, or North-Eastern Indian cuisine

  • Proven expertise in:
  • Momo dough preparation and filling balance
  • Jhol base gravies (sesame, tomato, chili)
  • Sekuwa marination and grilling
  • Dal bhat / thakali meal assembly
  • Nepali achars and chutneys
  • Wai Wai / chow chow snack preparation

  • Experience in high-volume QSR, cloud kitchen, café, or casual dining formats
  • Ability to standardize recipes for scalability
  • Knowledge of food costing and wastage control
  • Strong team management skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced breakfast + all-day service operations






Preferred Candidate Profile



  • Previously worked in a Nepali restaurant, momo kitchen, Himalayan café, or Tibetan food concept
  • Familiar with ingredients like:
  • Jimbu
  • Timur
  • Mustard oil
  • Sesame-tomato jhol
  • Nepali pickles / achar

  • Can create fusion innovations while preserving authentic taste
  • Experience handling Swiggy/Zomato delivery kitchen workflows is a plus
