Role Overview


The Early Childhood Educator is responsible for nurturing and educating young children during their critical developmental years. The role focuses on creating a safe, stimulating, and engaging learning environment that promotes children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development through play-based and structured learning activities.

The educator will support early learning foundations and help prepare children for formal schooling while fostering curiosity, creativity, and confidence.


Key Responsibilities


  • 1. Curriculum Planning & DeliveryPlan and implement age-appropriate learning activities aligned with the early childhood curriculum.
  • Develop lesson plans that encourage creativity, exploration, and problem-solving.
  • Use play-based learning approaches to enhance children's development.
  • Integrate storytelling, music, art, movement, and sensory activities into daily routines.
  • 2. Child Development & LearningSupport children’s cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development.
  • Observe and assess developmental milestones.
  • Identify learning needs and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and social interaction.
  • 3. Classroom EnvironmentMaintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Organize learning spaces with educational materials and toys.
  • Ensure cleanliness, safety, and child-friendly arrangements in the classroom.
  • 4. Child Observation & AssessmentMonitor and document children's progress through observations and assessments.
  • Maintain developmental records and portfolios.
  • Provide feedback to parents and school management on children's progress.
  • 5. Parent CommunicationBuild strong relationships with parents and caregivers.
  • Conduct parent-teacher meetings and share developmental updates.
  • Provide guidance on supporting children’s learning at home.
  • 6. Safety & WellbeingEnsure the safety and wellbeing of children at all times.
  • Follow school policies regarding child protection and safety standards.
  • Supervise children during classroom activities, playtime, and outdoor activities.
  • 7. CollaborationWork closely with fellow educators, teaching assistants, and school management.
  • Participate in curriculum planning meetings and professional development programs.


Qualifications

  • Diploma / Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Nursery Teacher Training (NTT), Montessori Training, or Child Development.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Education or Psychology is an added advantage.
