Job Description

Junior Fashion Designer

Role Overview

The Junior Fashion Designer will support the design team in the creation and execution of seasonal collections. This role focuses on the technical development of garments, from initial concept and fabric selection to final production samples. The ideal candidate possesses a strong eye for detail, a deep understanding of textile properties, and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Design: Create detailed flat sketches and technical packs (Tech Packs) including measurements, construction details, and BOM (Bill of Materials).

Fabric & Trim Sourcing: Assist in sourcing premium materials such as high-staple cottons, wool blends, and silks. Maintain the fabric library and organize seasonal swatches.

Trend Research: Conduct market research on silhouettes, color palettes, and textile innovations to support collection themes.

Sample Development: Coordinate with pattern makers and tailors to oversee the development of prototypes, ensuring hand-finished details and fit standards are met.

Product Lifecycle Management: Track samples through various stages of production and assist in quality control checks for finished garments.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education: Degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.

Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and Microsoft Excel.

Textile Knowledge: Fundamental understanding of weaving, fabric weights, and garment construction.

Aesthetic Alignment: A portfolio demonstrating a clean, minimalist design language and an appreciation for tailored garments.

Communication: Ability to articulate design concepts clearly and work collaboratively with production teams.

Preferred Attributes

• Interest in artisanal techniques and sustainable sourcing.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

• A "hands-on" approach to problem-solving during the sampling process.
