Job Title: Head of Merchandising

Role Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and strategic merchandising leader to drive end-to-end ownership of the merchandising function across categories. This role will be responsible for defining the product strategy, managing the P&L, optimizing inventory, and delivering a strong consumer-led assortment across channels.

The ideal candidate brings a sharp commercial mindset, strong analytical capabilities, and deep experience in category management, pricing, and supply chain coordination within a fast-paced retail or D2C environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. P&L Ownership & Commercial Strategy

  • Own and drive category-level P&L, including revenue, margins, and inventory health

  • Define and execute pricing, discounting, and promotional strategies to maximize profitability

  • Continuously track performance metrics and drive corrective actions

2. Assortment Planning & Category Strategy

  • Build a strong, differentiated assortment aligned with consumer insights and brand positioning

  • Lead seasonal planning, product lifecycle management, and range architecture

  • Identify white spaces and drive new category/product launches

3. Inventory & Supply Chain Optimization

  • Ensure optimal inventory levels across channels (online + offline)

  • Drive demand forecasting, replenishment planning, and stock optimization

  • Minimize stock-outs and excess inventory through strong planning and coordination

4. Vendor & Sourcing Management

  • Build and manage relationships with key vendors and suppliers

  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms

  • Ensure quality, cost efficiency, and timely deliveries

5. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with marketing, supply chain, retail, and product teams

  • Align merchandising strategy with brand campaigns and business goals

  • Work with analytics teams to drive data-backed decision-making

6. Consumer & Trend Insights

  • Leverage data, market trends, and competitor benchmarking to inform decisions

  • Stay ahead of global fashion and eyewear trends

  • Translate insights into actionable assortment and pricing strategies

7. Team Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing merchandising team

  • Drive a culture of ownership, agility, and performance

Key Skills & Experience

  • 10–15 years of experience in merchandising/category management (retail, fashion, or D2C preferred)

  • Strong P&L management experience

  • Deep understanding of assortment planning, pricing, and inventory management

  • Proven ability to scale categories and drive business growth

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience in managing large teams and cross-functional stakeholders
