Job Title: Network & CCTV Installation Technician

Job Summary:

The Network & CCTV Installation Technician is responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems (CAT6 UTP and fiber optics), CCTV surveillance systems, network switches, patch panels, racks, and associated hardware in commercial and industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities:

               •            Install, terminate, and test CAT6 UTP cables and fiber optic cables.

               •            Install, configure, and align CCTV cameras (IP and analog) and associated recording equipment (NVR/DVR).

               •            Mount and secure network infrastructure components, including racks, cabinets, patch panels, switches, and UPS systems.

               •            Perform cable pulling, dressing, labeling, and management in accordance with industry best practices.

               •            Conduct site surveys and assessments for network and security installations.

               •            Document cable routes, network layouts, and installation reports.

               •            Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to network connectivity, cabling faults, and CCTV system malfunctions.

               •            Collaborate with IT/networking teams during switch configuration and commissioning.

               •            Follow all local regulations, health and safety standards, and internal company policies during installations.

               •            Assist in maintenance and upgrades of existing cabling and security systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

               •            High school diploma or equivalent; Technical certification (ITI/Diploma) in Electronics, Telecommunications, or related fields preferred.

               •            Proven experience (2+ years) in structured cabling, CCTV installation, and basic network hardware setup.

               •            Familiarity with fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing.

               •            Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and network schematics.

               •            Basic knowledge of IP addressing and networking principles.

               •            Hands-on experience with tools such as crimpers, testers, splicing machines, cable pullers, etc.

               •            Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

               •            Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

               •            Physical ability to work on ladders, lift heavy equipment, and perform site work as needed.

Preferred (but not mandatory):

               •            Certifications like BICSI Installer, FOA CFOT, or CompTIA Network+.

               •            Experience with access control systems, intercoms, or alarm systems.

               •            Knowledge of switch/router basic configuration (VLANs, IP setup).

               •            May require working at heights and in confined spaces.

               •            Flexible schedule with potential overtime, evening, or weekend work depending on project needs.
