Department: Retail Pharmacy / Medical Store

Reports To: Store Manager / Owner

Job Summary

A Retail Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medicines, assisting customers with healthcare products, and ensuring the safe and legal sale of pharmaceutical products in the medical store. The pharmacist also manages medicine stock, checks prescriptions, and provides guidance on proper medication usage.

Key Responsibilities

Dispense prescription medicines accurately as per doctor’s prescription.

Verify prescriptions and ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations.

Provide customers with information about dosage, usage, and possible side effects of medicines.

Handle over-the-counter (OTC) medicine sales and recommend suitable products.

Maintain inventory and stock levels of medicines and healthcare products.

Check medicine expiry dates and remove expired or damaged items.

Maintain records of prescriptions, sales, and controlled medicines.

Ensure proper storage conditions for medicines as per guidelines.

Assist customers with health-related queries and provide basic medical guidance.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy store.

Coordinate with suppliers for medicine procurement.

Required Skills

Good knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs and medical products.

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing medicines.

Basic computer knowledge for billing and inventory systems.

Ability to manage stock and maintain records.

Qualifications

Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm).

Valid Pharmacy Council registration/license.

Experience in a retail pharmacy or medical store preferred.
