Picker / Packer

A Picker Packer prepares customer orders by locating items in a warehouse, scanning them with handheld devices, ensuring quality, and securely packing them for shipment. Key duties include managing inventory records, labeling packages accurately, maintaining a clean workspace, and adhering to safety protocols. This active role requires physical stamina, strong attention to detail, and often involves using machinery like scanners or pallet jacks. 

Key Responsibilities

• Order Picking: Accurately selecting products from warehouse shelves based on pick lists or digital scanners.
• Packing & Shipping: Choosing appropriate packing materials, sealing, and labeling boxes to prevent damage during transit.
• Inventory Control: Updating inventory records to reflect dispatched items, reporting discrepancies, and checking incoming stock.
• Quality Inspection: Checking products for defects or damage before they are shipped.
• Safety & Maintenance: Following safety regulations, operating equipment (e.g., scanners, pallet jacks) safely, and keeping the work area clean. 

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift heavy items (often 25-50+ lbs) for long periods.
• Attention to Detail: Ensuring the correct item and quantity are picked to avoid shipping errors.
• Organization: Keeping the workspace orderly and managing time efficiently to meet deadlines.
• Technical Skills: Basic computer knowledge or experience with warehouse management systems/handheld scanners.
• Education/Experience: Usually, a 10th-pass or high school diploma is required, with 0-1 years of experience often accepted. 

Working Conditions

• Full-time, part-time, or shift-based work in warehouses, distribution centers, or manufacturing environments.
• Fast-paced environment requiring consistent, high-volume, and accurate output.
