Quality Control Executive

Role OverviewThe Quality Engineer will be responsible for monitoring, controlling, and improving product quality across all stages of sheet metal fabrication—incoming material inspection, in-process checks, and final outgoing quality. The role requires strong technical understanding of sheet metal processes such as laser cutting, CNC bending, welding, grinding, finishing, and assembly. The engineer will ensure compliance with drawings, BOMs, customer specifications, and internal quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Incoming (Inward) Quality ControlInspect raw materials (CRCA, SS sheets, tubes, hardware, bought-out items) as per material test certificates, thickness, flatness, and supplier SOPs.

• Verify material against purchase orders, specifications & internal standards.
• Maintain IQC records, rejection notes, and supplier feedback reports.
• Coordinate with stores and procurement for NCR closures.

2. In-Process Quality Control. Conduct stage-wise inspections during laser cutting, bending, welding, fabrication, surface preparation, and powder coating/polishing.

• Validate critical parameters such as bend angles, flatness, hole alignment, tolerances, welding quality, and surface finish.
• Ensure adherence to engineering drawings, GD&T, jigs/fixtures, and process sheets.
• Maintain in-process checklists, deviation reports, and rework logs.
• Support production in root cause analysis and corrective actions (5 Why, Fishbone, etc.).
• Verify first-piece approval (FPA) for each batch and process.

3. Final (Outgoing) Quality ControlPerform final inspection of assemblies, sub-assemblies, and finished goods before dispatch.

• Validate functional, dimensional, and aesthetic requirements as per customer specifications.
• Prepare final inspection reports, OK tags, and dispatch clearance.
• Ensure packaging quality meets customer and transport requirements.

4. Documentation & SystemsMaintain all quality records: IQC, IPQC, OQC, NCR, calibration log, test reports, and traceability documents.

• Update PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and SOPs when required.
• Implement and sustain 5S and basic Lean practices in the quality area.
• Support PPAP, customer audits, and internal audits.

5. Vendor & Customer Quality Coordination. Communicate quality issues with vendors and follow up for CAR (Corrective Action Reports).

• Coordinate with customers regarding quality concerns, approvals, and inspection processes.
• Conduct periodic supplier quality evaluations.
• Required Skills & Qualifications. Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
• 1–3 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication quality control (laser cutting, CNC bending, welding).
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, surface finishing, and fabrication tolerances.
• Hands-on experience with measuring instruments (Vernier, micrometer, height gauge, welding gauges).
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, and basic problem-solving tools.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
