A key requirement of this role is staying up to date with the latest SEO trends, best practices, and algorithm updates, especially those related to news and media websites. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of SEO performance metrics, keyword research, and analytics.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough site audits to identify areas of improvement for technical SEO, including site architecture, page speed, mobile optimization, and crawlability.
• Optimize website infrastructure for better indexing and ranking by search engines.
• Implement strategies to optimize website load speed, particularly for mobile users.
• Work closely with the content team to identify high-value keywords for news-related searches.
• Help prioritize SEO efforts based on keyword research and trends in the news cycle.
• Provide recommendations and execute/manage strategies for content
• Development in coordination with SEO goals - general and keyword specific Monitor and evaluate search results and search performance across the major search channels in order to improve rankings

Knowledge & Skills

•  Proven experience as a Backend SEO Specialist or similar role, ideally within the news or media industry.
•  Strong technical SEO skills, including experience with site audits, on-page optimization, XML sitemaps, robots.txt, and canonical tags.
•  Proficiency in SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, or similar.
•  Experience working with content management systems (CMS) like Word Press, Drupal, or custom-built platforms.
•  Familiarity with Core Web Vitals and mobile-first design principles.
• Knowledge of structured data and implementing Schema Markup (especially News Article schema).
•  Familiarity with AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) and optimizing content for mobile-first experiences.
•  Strong understanding of SEO performance metrics, keyword research, and analytics.
