Job Description

Position OverviewThe Steward / Waiter is responsible for providing excellent food and beverage service to guests in the restaurant, banquet, and room service areas. The role ensures guest satisfaction through prompt, courteous, and efficient service, maintaining hygiene and quality standards of the hotel.


Key Responsibilities

1. Guest ServiceGreet guests warmly and assist them in seating.

  • Present menus, take food and beverage orders accurately, and relay them to the kitchen or bar.
  • Serve food and drinks promptly, ensuring the correct order and presentation standards.
  • Check with guests to ensure satisfaction with each course and overall service.
  • Handle guest complaints politely and inform the supervisor for resolution.

2. Table Setup & CleanlinessPrepare tables before service (laying tablecloths, cutlery, glassware, and condiments).

  • Maintain cleanliness and order in dining areas at all times.
  • Clear and reset tables promptly after guests leave.
  • Assist in mise-en-place for the next shift or service.

3. Coordination & TeamworkCoordinate with kitchen staff, bartenders, and other stewards for smooth service.

  • Support banquet setup and service during events, meetings, or weddings.
  • Follow instructions from the Captain or Supervisor and report any issues immediately.

4. Hygiene & SafetyMaintain high standards of personal hygiene and grooming.

  • Follow all hotel SOPs on food safety, hygiene, and sanitation.
  • Handle crockery, glassware, and equipment with care to prevent breakage.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations, including fire and first aid procedures.

5. Billing & Cash Handling (if applicable)Present bills to guests and process payments as per hotel policy

  • Maintain accurate records of orders, covers, and sales when assigned.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 10th / 12th pass; Diploma or Certificate in Hotel Management preferred.
  • 0–2 years of experience as a Steward / Waiter in a hotel, restaurant, or banquet service.
  • Good communication skills (English / Hindi).
  • Basic knowledge of food, beverages, and service etiquettes.
