Advanced Specialist, Financial Operations
Job Title: Advanced Specialist, Financial Operations.
Description: In this role, you will be responsible for analysing royalty data, supporting royalty reconciliations, and ensuring the integrity of the royalty calculations database
This role includes managing royalty advances and earnings payments while maintaining strict compliance with agreement setups and aligning with intellectual property management tools. The Specialist will assist and lead payout-based projects across multiple geographies, providing advisory support on product structures and agreement terms to ensure accurate royalty processing and alignment with business objectives.
In addition to these core responsibilities, the Specialist will collaborate closely with the Manager to monitor progress on key tasks, contributing to the overall operational excellence of the team. This role will involve conducting routine quality checks and data validation exercises to maintain accuracy, as well as preparing preliminary reports and summaries of royalty transactions for team review.
Job responsibilities and accountabilities:
General Profile
- This role requires a highly skilled individual with expertise in royalty data analysis, problem-solving, and internal & external stakeholder management. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Specialist must possess strong attention to detail, ensuring the integrity of royalty-related processes while mentoring junior staff and providing strategic insights to stakeholders.
- Experience in Publishing/ Rights or Royalties will be preferred.
Expertise
- Demonstrates expertise in own discipline and awareness of work in related areas.
- Oversee the accurate processing of royalty statements, ensure compliance with contractual agreements and industry regulations, and mentor team members to drive operational excellence.
- Ensuring timely response and reduction on the escalation from Stakeholders/ Author’s by taking prompt and quality action on One CRM tickets.
- Lead the reconciliation of royalty supplier accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Maintain supplier accounts, update, ensuring data accuracy and integrity in all system entries related to royalties and payments.
- Partner with technical teams and stakeholders to address data-related inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and implement lasting solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, process, and maintain data for efficiency.
Accountability
- Performs complex analyses and makes standard and non-standard decisions and/or recommendations with minimal supervision.
- Solves problems by identifying and selecting solutions using acquired knowledge & expertise.
- Maintain adherence to policies, prepare documentation for author audits, and ensure accuracy in all royalty statements in alignment with contractual terms.
Leadership
- Help to ensure the quality of the tasks and advice provided by self and others.
- Impacts a range of projects, operational and customer processes and activities within own team.
- Strong management skills with experience in mentoring staff and drive operational excellence.
Influence
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to ensure accurate royalty payouts and effective royalty data management.
- Provide expert advice on royalty payouts, product structures, and payment setups to influence strategic decisions within the business.
