Bike Mechanic

Core responsibilities

• Repair and maintenance: Diagnose and repair mechanical issues, replace worn or broken parts (like brakes, gears, chains, and tires), and perform routine servicing and tune-ups.
• Assembly: Assemble new bicycles for sale or customers, ensuring all components are correctly installed and adjusted.
• Customer service: Advise customers on necessary repairs, provide quotes for cost and time, and offer advice on proper bike maintenance and upkeep.
• Safety: Perform safety checks on all bikes to ensure they are safe to ride.
• Inventory management: Track and manage the inventory of parts and supplies, and maintain tools and equipment. 

Required skills and qualifications

• Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of bicycle components, mechanics, and repair procedures.
• Problem-solving: Ability to diagnose complex mechanical problems and find efficient solutions.
• Attention to detail: Precision is critical for all repair and maintenance tasks.
• Communication skills: Clearly explain technical issues to customers and provide good service.
• Physical fitness: The role can be physically demanding, requiring mechanics to be fit to handle bike components and spend time on their feet.
• Manual dexterity: Proficiency with a variety of tools is essential for performing repairs and adjustments. 

Additional duties

• Customization: Assist with bike fittings and customization to meet specific rider needs.
• Training: Mentor new mechanics and teach customers about bike repair.
• Shop upkeep: Participate in general shop duties, which may include opening or closing, or helping with sales
