Job Title: Debt Recovery Agent (Collections Officer)

Job Summary

We are seeking a results-driven Debt Recovery Agent to manage and recover outstanding debts from customers in a professional and ethical manner. The successful candidate will communicate with debtors, negotiate repayment plans, and ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Contact customers via phone, email, and written correspondence to collect overdue payments

Negotiate payment arrangements and settlement plans with debtors

Maintain accurate records of all collection activities and customer interactions

Follow up on promises to pay and ensure timely payments are received

Resolve billing disputes and escalate complex cases when necessary

Ensure compliance with debt collection laws, regulations, and company policies

Meet or exceed individual and team recovery targets

Prepare reports on collection performance and outstanding accounts

Liaise with legal teams or external collection agencies when required

Requirements and Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (additional certification is an advantage)

Proven experience in debt collection, credit control, or customer service

Strong communication and negotiation skills

Ability to handle difficult conversations calmly and professionally

Good organizational and record-keeping skills

Basic computer literacy and familiarity with CRM or collection systems

Knowledge of debt recovery laws and regulations is an advantage
