Responsibilities of this role

This role will provide the candidate an opportunity to work as part of our CRS Ecosystem Reporting & BI Product Team. You will be responsible for delivering a databricks data lakehouse that will drive a range of internally focused reporting and business intelligence solutions to colleagues across multiple regions. The role demands a strong technical background with exceptional analytical skills. We are looking for a self-starter with the ability to solve complex problems.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes using
• Testing, monitoring, and maintenance of existing pipelines.
• Optimise data processing workflows to ensure high performance and reliability
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, data architects, BI analysts, stakeholders and clients to support data-related needs.
• Implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure the integrity and accuracy of data.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data processes, ensuring knowledge transfer and system transparency as well as contribute to development of the data migration playbook.
• Make improvement and process recommendations that have an impact on the business

Skills and experience that will lead to success

• Extensive experience (5+ years) as a Data Engineer or a similar role
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and PySpark for data processing and transformation.
• Proven track record in using Databricks for data engineering, including cluster management, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog and other Databricks-specific features.
• Strong understanding of data processing, data warehousing, data lakehouse and data modelling concepts
• Ability to understand and address data implementation challenges
• Good understanding of CI/CD process and DevOps model of deploying code
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information effectively
• Ideally some experience with Oracle to understand the business logic for the legacy data warehouse.
• College Degree qualified in Business, Information Technology, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science or related field.
• Experience in the insurance or financial services industry is a plus
