Ecommerce Accountant

As we scale aggressively across marketplaces and D2C channels, we’re looking for a detail-oriented, execution-focused Ecommerce Accountant who can own financial accuracy while supporting core operations.

Role Overview

This is not a traditional accounting role. You will sit at the intersection of finance, inventory, and ecommerce operations.

You will be responsible for:

• Keeping books clean and compliant
• Ensuring inventory accuracy across systems
• Supporting day-to-day order processing (including label printing)
• Building scalable systems as HYV grows

This role is critical to ensuring that revenue, inventory, and operations stay tightly aligned.

Key Responsibilities

1. Ecommerce Accounting & Finance

• Maintain accurate books using Tally / Zoho Books / similar
• Record daily sales from:
• Amazon, Flipkart, Shopify, and other marketplaces
• Reconcile:
• Payment gateways
• Marketplace settlements (Amazon, Flipkart)
• Track:
• Revenue, COGS, margins, and profitability by SKU/channel
• Handle GST:
• Filing, reconciliation, and compliance
• Matching GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and books
• Vendor payments and receivables tracking
• Monthly closing and MIS reporting

2. Inventory Reconciliation (Core Responsibility)

• Maintain and reconcile inventory across:
• Warehouse (UniCommerce / similar OMS)
• Marketplaces (Amazon, Flipkart)
• Shopify / D2C backend
• Identify and resolve:
• Inventory mismatches
• Lost / damaged stock
• Marketplace discrepancies
• Track inward and outward stock movement
• Coordinate with warehouse and operations team
• Build SOPs for inventory control as volume increases

3. Order Processing & Operations Support

• Print order labels / stickers daily for all channels
• Ensure:
• Orders are processed accurately and on time
• No mismatch between order and dispatch
• Coordinate with warehouse team for dispatch readiness
• Monitor order flow across systems (UniCommerce, Shopify, etc.)
• Flag issues in real-time (stock-outs, delays, errors)

4. Reporting & Data Accuracy

• Create daily, weekly, and monthly reports:
• Sales reports
• Inventory reports
• Channel-wise performance
• Build dashboards for:
• Stock levels
• Fast-moving vs dead inventory
• Ensure data consistency across all systems

5. Process Building (As HYV Scales)

• Design scalable systems for:
• Inventory tracking
• Financial reconciliation
• Order processing workflows
• Automate repetitive tasks where possible
• Work closely with founders and ops team to improve efficiency
• Prepare for:
• Multi-warehouse operations
• International expansion
• Higher order volumes

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce / Accounting / Finance
• Strong understanding of:
• GST and Indian taxation
• Ecommerce accounting flows
• Hands-on experience with:
• Tally / Zoho Books
• Excel / Google Sheets (must be strong)
• Experience with ecommerce tools:
• UniCommerce / similar OMS (preferred)
• Amazon Seller Central, Flipkart Seller Hub
• High attention to detail
• Strong ownership mindset

Good to Have

• Experience in D2C brands or consumer products
• Familiarity with:
• Shopify
• Inventory management systems
• Basic understanding of unit economics
• Experience handling high SKU counts
