Job Description

Job Title: Plastic Mould Design Head

Department: Plastic Mould Design / Tool Design

Industry: Plastic Injection Moulding / Automotive / Consumer Goods / Electronics

Reporting to: Plant Head / General Manager

Experience Required: 8–15+ years in mould design and team leadership

Salary- 17 LPA - 20LPA

NOTE: must have strong command over CREO

Key Responsibilities:

1. Mould Design Leadership:

Lead and manage the complete design of plastic injection moulds from concept to final release.

Guide the team in creating 2D/3D CAD models, assembly drawings, and detailed component drawings.

2. Project Coordination:

Interact with customers to understand component design and functional requirements.

Ensure mould designs meet quality, cost, and timeline goals.

3. Design Review & Validation:

Conduct DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) analysis.

Validate designs through simulation software (e.g., Moldflow) for flow, cooling, and warpage.

4. Collaboration with Tool Room & Production:

Work closely with tool room and production teams for tool development and trials.

Provide technical support during mould assembly, trials, and modifications.

5. Software & Systems:

Oversee the use of CAD/CAM software like Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.

Maintain proper documentation and version control of design files.

6. Team Development:

Train and mentor junior designers and engineers.

Promote standardization, best practices, and innovation in mould design.

Key Skills & Competencies:

Expertise in plastic injection mould design and toolmaking fundamentals.

Strong command over CAD tools ( Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).

Knowledge of plastic materials, shrinkage, cooling systems, ejection, gating.

Experience in simulation tools (Moldflow, Moldex3D) is a plus.

Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Analytical thinking and problem-solving approach.

Educational Qualifications:

Diploma/Degree in Tool & Die Design, Mechanical Engineering, or Plastic Engineering.

Specialized certification in m

ould design (e.g., CIPET, NTTF, GTTC) is preferred.
