Job Description

Job SummaryWe are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented professional to manage the procurement of dry fruits and spices. The role involves vendor development, price negotiation, quality evaluation, demand planning, and ensuring timely procurement to meet business requirements. The candidate must have strong knowledge of the dry fruits and spices industry, domestic and international sourcing, market trends, and supplier management.



 

Key Responsibilities·      Develop and execute procurement strategies for dry fruits and spices (domestic & international sourcing).

·      Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers/vendors ensuring quality, consistency, and cost-effectiveness.

·      Negotiate prices, payment terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve best value.

·      Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations.


·      Demand & Inventory Management

·      Coordinate with sales/production teams to forecast demand and plan procurement accordingly.

·      Monitor inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted supply while minimizing excess stock and working capital.

·      Implement procurement planning tools for seasonal commodities.




 

Quality

& Compliance 

·      Ensure all procured products meet company’s quality and food safety standards.

·      Work closely with the Quality team for supplier audits, certifications, and compliance (FSSAI, APEDA, HACCP, ISO etc.).

·      Market Intelligence & Cost Optimization

·      Develop strategies for cost reduction and risk mitigation.

·      Maintain strong knowledge of local mandi rates, import tariffs, and government policies affecting dry fruits & spices trade.

 

Operations & Coordination 

·      Ensure timely purchase order issuance, documentation, and delivery follow-ups.

·      Coordinate with logistics for import/export shipments, freight negotiations, and customs clearance.

·      Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier database, and MIS reports.

 

Key Skills & Competencies 

·      Strong negotiation, analytical, and vendor management skills.

·      Knowledge of dry fruits & spices supply chain (domestic & global).

·      Familiarity with import/export documentation, government policies, and international trade practices.

·      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·      Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP/SAP, or other procurement tools.

·      Ability to handle multiple commodities and work under pressure.

 

Qualification & Experience 

·      Graduate / Postgraduate in B. tech Food tec/Science, Agri-Business, International Trade, or related field.

·      1–3 years of experience in procurement, preferably in dry fruits, spices, agri- commodities, or FMCG sector.

·      Exposure to international sourcing, vendor development, and contract management.
