Position Title: Product Development (PD) Merchant

Department: Merchandising / Product Development

Reports To: Head of Merchandising / Commercial Manager

Location: Noida, Sector 58

Job Summary

The PD Merchant is responsible for managing the end-to-end product development process for flat knitwear programs—from initial tech pack receipt to sample approval and handover to production. This role coordinates between buyers, designers, technical teams, sourcing, and production to ensure timely sample development, accurate costing, and smooth commercialization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Development Management

• Receive and review tech packs from buyers.
• Coordinate with design and sampling teams for yarn sourcing, swatch development, and sample execution.
• Ensure accurate interpretation of buyer requirements (gauge, stitch type, yarn count, construction).
• Monitor development timelines and maintain T&A (Time & Action) calendars.

2. Buyer Communication

• Act as the primary contact for buyers during development stages.
• Send sample submissions, lab dips, and approvals on time.
• Clarify technical comments and manage revisions efficiently.

3. Costing & Commercial Analysis

• Prepare accurate cost sheets based on yarn consumption, CM, and overhead.
• Work closely with the knitting and IE teams for SMV and machine feasibility.
• Negotiate prices within target margins.

4. Sourcing & Material Coordination

• Source yarns, trims, and accessories as per buyer specifications.
• Coordinate with suppliers for lab dips, shade approvals, and lead times.
• Monitor yarn inventory and ensure timely availability for sampling.

5. Sample & Production Handover

• Ensure development samples meet quality and measurement standards.
• Arrange fit samples, PP samples, and size sets.
• Conduct development-to-production handover meetings with relevant departments.

6. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain buyer files, development trackers, and costing records.
• Prepare weekly development status reports.
