Two Wheeler Mechanic

A Bike Mechanic (or Bicycle Technician) is responsible for the assembly, maintenance, and repair of various types of bicycles. They ensure bicycles are safe, functional, and optimized for performance, often working in bike shops, specialized service centers, or with rental fleets. They diagnose mechanical issues, replace worn components, tune gears, and provide expert customer service. 

Core Responsibilities

• Repair and Maintenance: Clean, degrease, lubricate, and adjust bike parts, including wheels, chains, and brake systems.
• Assembly: Assemble new bicycles according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Diagnostics: Identify mechanical issues, perform safety checks, and provide cost estimates for repairs.
• Component Replacement: Replace damaged or worn-out components such as brakes, gears, and tires.
• Customization: Customize bikes, such as fitting accessories or adjusting custom specifications for customers.
• Inventory Management: Track inventory, order parts, and maintain a clean and organized workshop.
• Customer Service: Advise customers on repairs, maintenance, and safety, often providing recommendations on riding techniques or upgrades.
• Test Riding: Test ride repaired bicycles to ensure they meet performance and safety standards. 

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of bike components, types (road, mountain, electric), and repair techniques.
• Tool Proficiency: Skill in using specialized hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy objects, work on feet for long periods, and handle tools safely.
• Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to interact with customers and explain technical issues.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose complex mechanical problems efficiently.
• Certifications: While not always required, certifications from institutions like United Bicycle Institute or Barnett Bicycle Institute are highly valued. 

Common Job Requirements

• Previous experience as a bike mechanic, often categorized by junior or senior levels.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Flexibility to work weekends or peak hours.
