Job Title: STP / ETP Operator

Job Summary

The operator will run and take care of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) or Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP). The main job is to clean wastewater so that it becomes safe to release or reuse.

Main Duties

1. Running the Plant

Start and operate machines like pumps, blowers, filters, and tanks.

Check if water is being cleaned properly.

Add chemicals like alum, chlorine, etc., when needed.

2. Daily Checks

Test water for pH, color, smell, and cleanliness.

Write daily readings in logbooks.

Keep records of treated water and chemical usage.

3. Maintenance Work

Clean tanks, filters, and equipment regularly.

Fix simple problems like blockages or leaks.

Inform the maintenance team if any machine is not working properly.

4. Safety & Rules

Follow all safety rules and wear PPE.

Make sure the plant follows pollution control norms.

Help during inspections or sample testing.

5. Cleanliness

Keep the plant area neat and clean.

Dispose of sludge properly.

6. Communication

Report any issues to the supervisor.

Work together with the maintenance and facility teams.

Skills Needed

Basic knowledge of how wastewater is treated.

Ability to operate pumps, blowers, and other equipment.

Simple troubleshooting skills.

Ability to read and write daily reports.

Qualification

ITI or Diploma (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or similar).

1–5 years experience preferred, but freshers can also apply.

Work Conditions

Work may be in outdoor areas.

May have to lift small loads or climb tanks.

Shift work may be required.
